CLASS HISTORY

In September 1928 an unusually bright and mischievous group of youngsters of six began their educational career under the director of Miss Tenny Williamson. This year, 1940, twenty five members are being graduated from Marmaduke High School, which only Logan Atnip, Jo Letbetter, Lovell Harvey, and Rex McHaney have completed their twelve years in this institution.

Since 1926 many have dropped out, but others have taken their places. Theodore Brewer and Joe Hartsoe started here in the first grade; bur later attended other schools for a short period, then returned to be graduated with their old class-mates.

Marjorie Noble joined the class in 1932. Kathryn Ramsey joined the next year, but left to attend Alexander School the terms '37 and '38, returning in September '38. In 1934 the sixth grade welcomed Wayne "Cicero" Cole,  who has proven himself to be a very prominent member of the class. In 1935 the name Violet "Tiny" Evans was added to the class roll. The Freshmen year, 1936 saw a very great increase in the class; such names as: Winfred Hammett, Hershel Nowell, Doyle Letbetter, Levon Jordan, Ethel Gardner, Harold Fahr, Mildred Morten, and Thelma Lee Starnes were enrolled.

Newell Maxwell, Thelma Mae Fielder, and J. C. Sanders entered the class in 1939. The Senior year 1940, saw the addition of J. E. Bridges, Genevieve Thomas, Mable Poppe, and Thomas Cox to the class.                     Transcribed by: Sandy Hardin
