Newly discovered Arkansas State Penetentiary books,

located at Saline County

From: "Deb Robinson" < debrob325 (at) hotmail (dot) com >
The books that I have found are the Arkansas State Penetentiary books,
covering the years of 1918 -1970s, with several years missing.
Some of the books are very detailed with information, while a few are
not, and every county in the state is included.

The pages are alphabetized by the county of residence instead of by their names.
Credit for indexing the records: Cindy Gill for File #1 and File #2,
Deb Robinson, for everything after that.

There isn't anything can really be copied from the book for anyone,
unless they just want the page that are entered verbatem, but Deb
will be happy to do that if desired. She can be reached via e-mail at --

She says: "I called the state prison system to see if there are files that still exist
for these entries and there are. So, if anyone wants to contact the prison,
this is how they do it:

"1800's - 1995 - - call either Gean Yelverton or Sheila Moses at the Arkansas
Department of Correction, 1-870-267-6425. They will look for the file and
if it exists, they will make copies at $.75 a page.

"1995 - present - - call Gail Ramsey at Central Records at Pine Bluff,
1-870-267-6684. The cost will be the same.

"I have been told that many of the records did not survive the moves
throughout the years, so they may not exist."
