I believe this was Eliza Stout's maiden name. According to the Arkansas marriage records found on Ancestry.com, Benjamin F. Stout married Margaret Stout on 5-27-1847 in Washington Co., Ark. I do not know if this is Eliza's first husband.) May Term A D 1844 Eliza Stout Complainant For and On a petition for Divorce Benjamin Stout Defendant And now at this day came the said complainant by B. F. Hempstead her Solicitor, and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court that publication of of notice in this cause to said defendant Benjamin Stout has been duly made, and the said defendant being called came such, but made default: It is then by consideration by the Court that the complainants said Rite of Complaint be taken as confessed, and it is advised and decreed that the Bonds of Matrimony not for subsisting between Eliza Stout and Benjamin Stout be and the same an hereby put aside, annuled, vacates and hilo(?) for naught and that said Eliza Stout be and she hereby is declared to be divorced from the Bonds of Matrimony ? ? between her and said Benjamin Stout, and it further appearing to the satisfaction of the court that there is one child named ? of the said marriage between said Elizabeth Stout and Benjamin Stout, it is further decreed by the court that the care and custody of said child is hereby given and confered to said Eliza, and it is further considered that said complainant have and recover of said defendant her Cents(?) in and about this snit(?) Suspended and that she have (?) Execution therefor.
