Page 53) State of Arkansas County of Hempstead Office of the Clerk of the Hempstead Court of Probate in vacation, March 24th A. D. 1846 Be it remembered that on this day before me Simon T. Sanders clerk of the circuit court and Ex-Officio Clerk of the Court of Probate within and for the county of Hempstead in the State of Arkansas personally came due appeared John S. Johnson Jr. and appeared for letters of Administration to be granted him on the Estate of his late Brother William S. Johnson Dec. and be thereup on made and subscribed the following affidavid viz. I do solemnly swear that to the best of my knowledge and belief the value of the estate of the said William J. Johnson dec. is about the sum of Two Thousand Dollars and that the Sums of said dec. are this affiant(?) his Brother and the children of the late Sarah Ann Smith who was the wife of Enoch J. Smith and Jane Ann Stuart wife of A. O. Stuart, Sisters of the dec. all of Hempstead County Arkansas and his Brother E. J. Johnson whose is somewhere on the Missippi River, that the deceased died without a will on or about the 19th day of March A. D. 1846 in the county of Hempstead and State of Arkansas, that I will make a perfect Inventory of and faithfully administer all that Singular the goods and chattels rights and credits of the deceased and pay his debts as far as the assets which may come to my hands will c? and the law direct and that it will account for and pay even according to law all assets which may come to my hands or possession So help me God. John S. Johnson Jnr. Sworn to and Subscribed before me the date herein first above provided S. T. Sanders Clk Filed and Recorded on the 24th day of March A. D. 1846 --------------------------------- Know all men by these presents that we John S. Johnson Jr. and George Hill and Matthew V. Cheatham are held and firmly become with the State of Arkansas in the first and final Sum of Four Thousand Dollars for the payment where of will and truly to be made ? ? ? ? our ? Executors and Administrations firmly by these present, Witness our hands and seals at Washington this 24th Day of March A. D. 1846. The condition of the above obligation is such that of the above ? John J. Johnson Jr. as administrator of all and Singular deceased, shall make or come to be made a True and perfect Inventory of all and Singular, the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the deceased which have or may come to the hands, possession or knowledge of him the said John J. Johnson, Jr. or into the hands or possession of any other ? for him, and the same so made shall return and Exhibit in the office of the clerk of the Probate for the county of Hempstead within sixty days from the date of the above obligations and all singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the deceased which shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of the deceased John S. Johnson Jr. he shall will and freely administer according to ? and pay the debts of the deceased as far as his assets will ? and the law direct, and further m(?) a cause to be made Just and True accord of his administration and ? ? and proper settlement.
