Fitzgerald Family Bible
Hello, my name is Susie Dent.  My Great Grandparents were the Rev. W.A. Fitzgerald and his wife Louisa Jane Dillard-Fitzgerald.  My Great Grandfather was born in Forsyth County, GA, served in the US Cavalry before coming through Hot Spring County, AR on his way to Texas to visit a brother.  He stopped in the Point Cedar area to visit his mother's sister Artimissia "Arty" Mitchell-Holcomb, wife of Asa Chandler Holcomb.  He went to church at Point Cedar where he met my Great Grandmother Louisa Jane Dillard, daughter of Judah and William Frank Dillard of Coldbath.  They married soon afterwards in September 1878 at the Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church where they met.  Rev. John Neighbors performed the ceremony.

Several of their children were born in Hot Spring County.  The family shows up on the 1880 census in the Valley township.  I figure they were there until about 1899 when they moved briefly to Beebe, Arkansas.  They returned to Clark County, AR where Rev. Fitzgerald served as a missionary and circuit riding preacher for the American Bible Sunday School Union.  He also preached at the Amity Methodist Episcopal Church, South, for several years before his death. susiedent@aol.com
