Looking for information on my great grandparents. William BELCHER should have been born about 1875-1882. Sarah SHIELDS was born in 1881. All that is know by me is that they were both from Arkansas. By looking at land records for the BELCHER and SHIELDS families and knowing that my grandmother was born in Hot Springs I concluded that Montgomery was a possible county of their birth. Searching for Coleman BUTLER, b. 1829 TN. Resided 1850 Shelby County TN. Married first to Nancy THOMASON, daughter of Middleton THOMASON and Olive (ROWLAND) THOMASON of Benton and Carroll Counties in TN. Coleman and Nancy had two sons: Francis Mariion BUTLER, b. 1858; and James Riley BUTLER, b. 1863 Johnson County, AR. Francis Marion BUTLER m. Alda Frances NEISLER in 1888, and James Riley Butler m. Lucy L. RAY in 1887, both marriages in Hot Spring County, AR. Coleman served in the Civil War (Confederate), enlisting in Johnson County, AR in 1863. Coleman obtained a divorce from Nancy in 1869 in Illinois, and in 1870 Nancy was found living with her sons in Dallas County AR. In 1870 Coleman resided in Massac County, IL with a new wife, Mary Caroline ? (maiden name unknown.) By 1880 Mary Caroline had died and Coleman resided in Massac County with his 7-year-old son, Robert E. BUTLER, b. 1873. This son, Robert E. 'Bob' Butler, later moved to Fenter Township in Hot Spring County AR and resided there for the remainder of his life. Bob BUTLER married first to Rhoda J. NEWMAN and married second to Sallie ?, maiden name unknown. By his wife Rhoda he had a son named Coleman BUTLER, born Hot Spring County AR in 1898 Hot Spring County. It is believed that Lois BUTLER, b. 1897, and who resided with William and Annie E. GRAHAM in Fordyce, Dallas County AR, was related to these. She died Apr1877, but not sure of place of death. The A. R. MOORE family had come from Giles Co., TN, to Texas. At some point came to Malvern and then went back to Texas.
