James Cemetery – East of Haynes, AR

Directions to James Cemetery:

At Haynes turn east on Hwy 131E for three miles.  At the crossroads,

Turn left (north) on CR 747 for one mile.  Turn right (east) at the “T” on CR 724

For .3 miles.  The cemetery is on a hill on the right (south) side of the gravel

Road, just before crossing Hawkins Creek.

James Cemetery is in two sections – a white cemetery nearest the road and a black

cemetery bordering it on the south side.  According to a young man living nearby

the white section is maintained by a relative of someone buried in that section.

The black section has no caretaker is is overgrown.

The following info is for the white section.  Many stones are broken and are not

Readable.  Some graves are marked only with metal rods or blocks of concrete

with no names, and there are several unmarked graves.  Transcriptions are the

best we could make out.  Bettie Dowler
