JEFFERSONVILLE CEMETERY
Jeffersonville, Lee County, Arkansas

This Family Cemetery is located near Bear Creek Lake in Marianna, AR.  This list was compiled from notes that I took in 2000, photographs that I
took in June 2004, and notes compiled by Mary Anderson.  I want to thank Mary for her contributions and allowing me to compare hard-to-read
names and dates to her list.  Also, a special thanks to my parents, Darrel & Martha (Harris) Roberts and to Uncle Jerry & Aunt Peggy (Harris) Hudson
for their help cleaning up the grounds so I could finish this list and take photos of each stone.
I am a direct descendant of
William Henry Harris (#19) & Viola Middleton Harris (#20);
Charlie Harris (#15) & Lillian Higgins Harris (#17);
and Thomas H. Harris (#8) & Nancy Harris (#11),
so this cemetery has a very special meaning to me.
Some of these stones are very old and very hard to read.  I have listed as exactly as possible what is visible on each stone.  I have numbered the
graves, in no particular order, for easy reference.  There are many areas that noticably have graves, but no markers.  The earliest death date I
could find was 1856. This was supposedly an old Indian burial ground with graves all the way out to the gravel road.  If you know of anyone else
buried here or you see corrections or updates that need to be made, please email me and I will add that information.  If you find a relative, I will be
happy to create a link to you.
Information on the Hale Family at the top of the hill was updated by Dwayne Hawpe <epwahdaxter@cox.net> on December 10, 2004.  They are the
descendants of his gggrandfather's sister Susan Jane Hawpe.  He believes that I found the individual graves of some at the top of the hill and a
monument (the tapered, obelisk stone) with their full names and dates that may have been added years later.  I have added his comments below.
