Lackie Cemetery

LaGrange, Arkansas

Location: This cemetery is on Wire Road (Hwy 185).  It on the east side of Hwy 185, just north of the intersection of Lee Road 216 and Lee Road 231.

Mr. Norris Webb took my sister and me to this cemetery on October 15, 2005.  His great-grandparents, George and Lue Ella Webb, are buried here.  He remembered the Dilks family being buried toward the bottom of the hill, but we couldn’t find any stones for them.  The woods are grown up and the stones we did find are scattered fairly far apart further up on the hill.  There was one fenced section of graves and numerous sunken places indicating additional graves all over the place.  You can click on the names below to see the individual stones.

On October 14, 2005 Jane Hartley submitted a list of names and some history for this cemetery. “The Lackie Cemetery is the graveyard on Wire Road where the congregation of the first Baptist church in Lee County buried its dead.  It was called Liberty Baptist Church and was a log house that stood near the head waters of Patterson Branch.  It is still used.  (I don’t know when this was copied.)  The Rev. Matthew Cox was the first pastor of this church.”  The additional names that are on her list that we did not find a marker for are denoted by an asterisk (*) below.

If you know of anyone else buried here, and would like to add their name, please contact me.  I can also create a link for you to any of these names if you find someone that belongs to your family.  The information presented is as correct as possible, however you may want to verify its accurateness.
