FARMER FAMILY

John Carroll Farmer, born 11-17-1833 in TN came to Ellsworth about 1854 with his mother, Sarah Farmer Ewing, brothers Joseph and James Farmer, and half brothers Francis, George and Benjamin Ewing.

John Carroll married Romanda Caroline Plunkett in 1856 She was born in TN in 1836. Several children are buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, but Milton Carroll and Sarah Jane lived to Adulthood, and Caroline died 11-16-1876.

John Carroll served with Company A of the US fourth Calvary, Arkansas Voluntters along with his half brothers, Benjamin and Joseph Ewing.

John Carroll married second Mary Elizabeth Hibbs 8-23-1877.She was born 11-11-1851 and died 3-9-1898. Their children were:

George Lovely Farmer, born 7-1-1878 died 1971 buried at Prairie View, married Martha (Mattie) Blanche Lowe in 1899, daughter of Margaret Lafferry and Nelson Green Lowe born . Their children were Janie born in 1899 died 1969 who married Ruford Durning in 1921, Ethel born 1900 died 1968, married Coy Berry in 1921, and John Nelson born 1914 died 1971 married Sarah McNeal in 1940. Mattie died in 1959, and George in 1966. Buried at Ellsworth.

William Thomas Farmer, born 1880, married Rebecca (Becky) Davis. Children were Pressley, Zona and Lula. William died in1944 and Becky in 1966. Buried at Ellsworth Cemetery.

Jasper Franklin Farmer, born in 1886, married Rosa Belle Mitchell. Their only child was James Atha. Jasper died in 1928, Rosa Belle in 1972. James Atha married Inez Campbell. He died 1-13-1986 in Paris buried in Graves Cemetery.

Roland Virgil Farmer, born 1891 married (1) Myrtle Blunt, (2) Roma Daniel, and (3) Essie Housley Harkey. Myrtle died in 1926, Roma in 1951, and Essie in 1975. Roland died in 1966. He had no children.
