THOMPSON:  I have been looking on the internet, without luck, for my great-grandfather's genealogy. The info I have is from my grandmother's (Sarah Jane Thompson) birth certificate. The info follows: Sarah Jane Thompson, White female, born May 23, 1905 in Austin, Lonoke county, Arkansas. Her father was James W. Thompson (my great-grandfather) birthplace AR. Her Mother was Ada Brown (my great-grandmother) birthplace AR. For starters I have been focusing on the Thompson's. I know the ancient history of the name it is Scottish and from the ancient Gaelic name MacTamhais, which means "Son of Thomas". Both the name MacTavish and Thompson and all their variations stem from MacTamhais and all mean the same "Son of Thomas". I am wondering who James W. Thompson's parents were so I could get a start on researching my heritage. This is all the info I have. I am sorry. Fairfaw me freens an muckle. Thanks.  Doug Lee Swicegood.    138 Lombardi Lane,  Russellville,  Ar.  72802-1742.  Jan. 5, 1999.

BAILEY, BAKER:   I am searching for information on Louisa E. Baily (or actually Bailey) listed in 1880 Census as living in Eagle, Lonoke County, Arkansas. She was 32 years old at the time and is listed as having been born in Mississippi. Children listed are Roxean (age 10), Mary J. (age 8), William H. (age 6), Silas A. (age 4), Ernest L. (age 2) and Samie L. (age 2/12). All children were born in Arkansas with the exception of Ernest, who is listed as having been born in Texas. I have reason to believe Silas A. Bailey was my great-grandfather. He is supposed to have had a half-brother Joe Baker, which leads me to suspect Louisa married a Baker after her first husband died, apparently about late 1879 or 1880. Silas is supposed to have been born in White County rather than Lonoke County according to his death certificate, so Louisa may have only recently moved to Lonoke. I would appreciate any information about her, her husbands, and her children. Many thanks for any assistance anyone may be able to provide.  John Hepner.  P.O. Box 507, Denton, TX. 76202-0507.  Feb. 7,  1999.
