Before you begin to search the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery listings there are some things you need to know. Please take the time necessary to read this
ALL information - you will save yourself a lot of time and make your search more productive.Max Parnell has spent years compiling the information for this cemetery. Along with the cemetery information he has collected as many obituaries as he can locate for the people in this cemetery. Max has spent months transcribing all of the obituaries he has found and we have them on-line. But, if you jump straight to searching obits you may very well miss your ancestor.
The information on Pleasant Ridge Cemetery is made up of two sections: (1) A list of everyone buried or known to be buried in the cemetery (2) a transcription of an obituary for the person, if an obituary has been found. If you find your ancestor and there isn't a notation that says:
No obit found then you will know there is an obituary on-line for this person. Come back to this page and select Search Obits for the obituary. Don't stop reading now there are still some things you need to know!The program I use to record obituaries requires a full date (mm/dd/yy) and not all tombstones have a full death date. When that is the case and there is
no death date in the obit I used the issue date of the newspaper where the obit was published. Most of the older obits say something like "passed away last Tuesday" with no date given. There are many programs on the web that will allow you to enter a date and look at a calendar for that time frame. Using one of these programs will help you to determine an actual date of death.If Max has been unable to located an obituary there will be a note:
No obit found. If you have an obituary for one of these people please send it to either Max or me.If there is a difference between the date of a tombstone and the date in the obituary it will be noted so that you will know there was not a typing mistake. I tried to always use the death date of the tombstone but if you can't find the obit using the tombstone date - search by name (and let me know if you find an error please). If the obit uses a name that is different from the tombstone I have also noted that information.
Please do not write to Max and ask him for family history information if you find a family member listed here. He is not compiling genealogies on these people - he is only recording the information from the cemetery.
