A Message from Rhio

Hi Marion Rooters!

I would like to say something about other counties being mentioned on this list.

Many of the Marion County residents moved around from surrounding counties. My ESTES family moved back and forth between Marion and Boone Counties. I don't want us to focus on other counties but there is a relationship between them. Baxter, Boone, Carroll, Fulton, Lawrence Counties and Searcy county are related through culture, residents and changing boundary lines. Baxter Co was created out of Marion Co, Boone was created out of Carroll Co, Carroll was created out of Lawrence Co, Fulton was created out Louisiana Missouri Territory., Marion out of Lawrence under the name of Searcy, then changed to Marion, and Searcy was created out of Marion.

These county boundaries changed but the people didn't necessarily move, although my experience has shown them to be quite mobile for a people who had no moving vans and cars. <G> Records may be held in these other counties for your "Marion Co.", residents. Maybe we can help others find there family records by mentioning these other counties. I say this with some trepidation for fear of losing the Marion Co. focus, but I think at this time we should try it out. I will monitor the list and hopefully you won't be offended if I butt in from time to time if I need to brings things back into focus.

Let me know what you think about this idea.

By the way, you can establish two mail lists at RootsWeb for a $25.00 donation. This is to offset the cost of the computers and software they need to run all these lists. This is what I did. I am the listowner for Jefferson surname and Marion Co., lists.
