1. Champion McEntire - 395. Son of Archibald McEntire Sr. - 397 & Unknown - 465. Born 1806 in Rutherford Co., NC. Died 1879 in Marion Co., Ar.
Champion And Sarah moved to Bruno, Marion Co., AR in 1846, he was a farmer, Postmaster, and wagonmaker. He moved with his family to Greene County, MO during the war between the States. At one time he owned as much as 236 acres of land. Most of this land was left in a will to his daughter Rachel. After Rachel's death the land went to her husband, Dr. G.W. Elam. Through the years several pieces of land owned by different McEntire family members became the property of Dr. Elam. At present day the land is still in the Elam family. The Bruno Cemetery once know as the McEntire Cemetery has been donated by the Elam family.
He married Sarah Waters - 396, 10 Sep 1831 in Rutherford County, NC. Born 16 Oct 1806. Died 1 May 1888.

2. John Oliver McEntire Sr - 386. Son of Champion McEntire - 395 & Sarah Waters - 396. Born 1832 in North Carolina. Died in Utah. Buried in Salt Lake City.
Family story is that John was buried in an unmarked solider's grave by the Mormans in Salt Lake City, UT. John left Marion County, AR in 1859 to join a wagon train headed north in search of gold.
He married Elizabeth Watkins - 387, 22 Dec 1859 in Wagon Trail. Born Oct 1839 in NC/TN. Died 9 Apr 1930 in Marion Co., Ar. Buried in Bruno Cemetery.
Elizabeth Watkins/Wadkins, was orphaned , possibly lived in Johnson or Conway Co. AR, She had 1 brother, Jack, and 2 sisters who's names were forgotten by Elizabeth. The exact names and dates of her parents' deaths are not known. Believed at this time to have been between 1845 and 1850. Elizabeth and her brother Jack lived on a farm and were used as farm hands never treated as part of a family, they were never taught to read or write. They ran away in 1859 in search of a better life. She met and married John Oliver McEntire from Marion County, AR on a wagon train headed for CA in search of gold. Elizabeth gave birth to five children while living and moving between several states. I have found documentation of them in Colorado, Nebraska, Montana and Utah. After the death of her husband, Elizabeth made her way to Green County, MO to meet with John Oliver's family,word had been sent to them by John when he became sick with what was known as minors TB. John died in Utah and was buried there. Elizabeth, with the help of an Indian guide she had hired rafted down the river south. Family store is that at sometime on the journey home the Indian "got fresh" with Elizabeth and she killed and threw him over board.The McEntires had left AR to escape the Civil War. I am not sure at this time how long the McEntire families were in Green County. One of John Oliver's brothers met Elizabeth at the river either in St. Louis MO, or in St. Joseph MO, and took her to Green County. Elizabeth bought Land in Marion County, AR in 1877. She with the help of her sons built a oneroom log cabin and farmed the 80 acers. The widow did many things to help feed her children. She was known for being able to take care of herself. Elizabeth was know through out the county for reading tea leaves, being a midwife, she delivered all of her grandchildren and possibly her own, she stayed with dead bodies until time for the burial. Family story is that Elizabeth smoked a corn cobb pipe, drank some moonshine and cursed. Elizabeth's death was never recorded in Marion County. Her coffin was hand made by her son- in-law Felix Roberts. She is buried in the Bruno Cemetery. Her headstone reads 1827-1930, her birth year has to be wrong. On all census reports given by Eizabeth herself, the age she states would have her being born about October of 1839. She was born either in TN or North Carolina. Three census reports that I looked at showed TN on two and NC on one. The boundry lines of those states changed through the years. My guess at this time would be TN. The stories of Elizabeth "The Ganny McEntire" will live on in our family as a testament to how a orphaned child and widow on her own with no family or money could perserviered and be admired by so many.

Ulas Echol was known as either Echol, Buff or Buffalo by family and friends. he attended Rocky Point school in Pytt, Boone County, AR. He was stationed in the Phillipine Islands while in the navy. Many celebrities would go to visit our men and women overseas. He told of playing an exhibition baseball game against Babe Ruth while in the Islands. He returned home to marry Ruth McEntire. Echol was in great phycial condtion up into his 60s. He would entertain children by walking on his hands. At the age of 76 he had hip surgery which led to health complications. He spent almost 3 months in intensive care at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He died 1 week after being taken out of ICU and moved to a different area of the hospital.
