The Mountain Echo, November 3, 1983 Issue: Onimus MCENTIRE. Onimus MCENTIRE, age 67, of Yellville died in Central Ozarks Medical Center in Yellville on Thursday, Oct. 27. Mr. MCENTIRE was born in Yellville on June 17, 1916 to John O. and Hernander E. SMITH MCENTIRE. A lifetime resident of Marion County, he was a carpenter for dam construction. Survivors include his wife, Donnie OTT MCENTIRE of the home; three daughters, Carolyn MEARS, Kathy KASTNING and Jan BEAVER, all of Yellville; one sister, Bernice SULLIVAN of Pyatt; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Schisler officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Bill Griffith of the Baptist Church also officiated at the funeral service. Pallbearers were Herbert OTT, J. B. OTT, Tim BEAVER, Donald MEARS, Don CRIGLER and G. D. HUDSPETH. Honorary pallbearers were Merl DODD, Doyne MELTON, Dr. Richard AHRENS, Hobart ALLEN, Don COCHRAN, Jack PACE, Jack TURNQUIST, Dr. Bob AHRENS and Junior MORROW. Mr. JOHNSON was born in Yellville on Aug. 11, 1912 to James C. and Ollie PANGEL JOHNSON. A farmer, he was a lifetime resident of Marion County. Survivors include his wife, Velma MITCHELL JOHNSON of the home; one son, Terry Lynn JOHNSON of Naches, Wash.; three sisters, Rheva BURROW and Theda DOSHIER, both of Yellville, and Neva MCCULLOM of Stockton, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Schisler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Mountain Echo, February 8, 1984 Issue: Joseph A. SISE. Joseph A. SISE, age 69, of Route A, Yellville, died in Central Ozarks Medical Center on Friday, Feb. 3. Mr. SISE was born in Kansas on July 24, 1914 to Edward and Jesse Mae THURMAN SISE. He was a retired construction worker. Survivors include one daughter, Anita SISE of Yellville; three sons Billy Joe SISE of Swanton, Vt., Norman C. SISE of West Covina, Calif., and David SISE of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Glenn and Gordon SISE, both of Bartlesville, Okla.; two sisters, Myra Lucy BUTCHER of Tulsa, Okla. and Leta Mae THORTON of El Paso, Tex.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. in Burns Chapel with Rev. Lee Bowers officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. SETZER was born in the DeSoto are on May 16, 1928 to Bill and Velma SEATON BURRIS. A housewife, she was a lifelong resident of Marion County. She was a Baptist. Survivors include her husband, Sam SETZER of the home; three daughters, Linda Kay CASTEEL and Paula Jean SETZER, both of Summit, and Brenda June CARTER of Yellville; one son, Johnny Allen SETZER of Mountain Home; one brother, Ted BURRIS of Springdale, and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. in Burns Chapel with Rev. Paul Press officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Herman MCCRORY, J. B. Mrs. HALL was born in Marion County on Nov. 7, 1906 to John Andy and Artie LEFEVERS SMITH, A store clerk, she was a lifetime resident of Marion County. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. Survivors include her husband, C. W. HALL of the home; two sons, Roy E. SMITH of Florissant, Mo. and J. F. BURROW of Gassville; two stepsons, R. L. HALL of Sunnyside, Calif., and J. C. HALL of Yellville; two stepdaughters, Sue Moreau of Yellville and Georgia POWELL of Lead Hill; one sister Verda FREDERICK of Harrison; nine stepgrandchildren, three grandchildren and eight step and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 7 at 10 a.m. in Burns Chapel with Daniel Fundyk officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, W. B. GILLEY of the home; two daughter, Floy STEVENSON of Harrison, and Shirley BAKER of Seattle, Wash.; three sons, Doy, Coy, and Bill GILLEY, all of Yellville; three brothers, Ran BOGLE of Yellville, and Winthrop BOGLE and L. D. BOGLE, both of Harrison, 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, March 12 at 2 p.m. in Burns Chapel with Rev. Richard Schilser and Rev. Mr. DOSHIER was born in Yellville on Jan. 29, 1913 to Marvin and Elvie BURROW DOSHIER. He was a retired county clerk of Marion County, former Marion County assessor, former revenue agent for the county and a member of Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church. For many years, Mr. DOSHIER sang in a local quartet. Survivors include his wife, Theda JOHNSON DOSHIER of the home; his mother, Elvie DOSHIER of Yellville; one daughter, Joyce Lane BOGLE of Harrison; one brother, Artha DOSHIER of Little Rock; and two grandchildren, Tammy and Shawn BOGLE of Harrison. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 13 at 2 p.m. in Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Schisler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. GUYNN was born in Tennessee on Sept. 7, 1905 to Walter and Nettie GUYNN. He was a care provider for retarded children and had lived in Marion County for three years. Mr. GUYNN was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Yellville. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Lee CANNON GUYNN of the home; one daughter, Bonnie BRADER of Maryland; two sons, John P. GUYNN of Colorado, and Neal PARRISH of Pyatt; one brother Paul GUYNN; two sisters, Ruth MANN of New Mexico, and Ora PATCH of California; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Graveside services were held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery on Friday, May 11 at 4 p.m. with Pastor Jesse Gibson officiating. Pallbearers were John MCCADDON, Carl HOLDEN, Herbert KUNSMAN and Art RALLS. Survivors include her husband, Earl GRANDSTAFF of the home; two daughters, Marilyn DODD of Houston, Tex., and Lorrie ADAMSON of Yellville; one son, Harry N. GRANDSTAFF of Llano, Tex.; a foster brother, John LAMPE of Marshfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Parker-Brown Funeral chapel for Dorsie C. CHEEK, 81, 1010 Holly street, who died at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday at Stillwater, Medical center. Burial will be Sunday at Yellville, Ark., under direction of Parker-Brown Funeral home of Perry. The son of C. S. and Auphammy (CALLAHAM) CHEEK, he was born Jan. 3, 1903, at Yellville. He attended Yellville schools. CHEEK was a former employe of Boeing Aircraft company and O. A. Sutton company, both of Wichita, Kan. In 1959, he and Cora Helen Lewis were married and they moved to Grandview, Wash., where CHEEK was an employe of Welch's Grape Juice company. CHEEK moved to Perry nine years ago following his retirement. As a hobby, he and his wife raised and sold canaries and CHEEK was known as "the bird man." Cheek was a 32nd degree Mason. In addition to Mrs. CHEEK, of the home, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Janet) ROWE, Seattle, Wash.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Leon (Mary Beth) BOWERS, Yellville, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Mary KEETER, Detroit, Mich.; a granddaughter, Taunya ROWE, and a grandson, Jeremy BOWERS. CHEEK was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his first wife, Beth.

Mr. FISK was born in Cowan Barrens on Feb. 10, 1925 to Willie and Clara Millie PILGRIM FISK. He was president owner of the Twin City Oil Company and was a resident of Pulaski County for the past 20 years. Mr. FISK was a member of the Smokey Lane Apostolic Church in North Little Rock and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife Nelma Lea HUMPHREY FISK of the home; two sons, Jerry FISK and Darrell FISK, both of North Little Rock; one brother, Ray FISK of Yellville; two sisters, Bernice PLY and Bertha Faye RORIE, both of Flippin; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. in Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with Bro. Royal Kidder and Bro. Rae Kidder officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She was born Oct. 6, 1908, at Yellville, a daughter of Boone and Janie SUMMERS DOSHIER. She was a resident of Boone County for five years. She formerly lived in Idaho. Survivors include two brothers, Floyd DOSHIER, Harrison; Jewel DOSHIER, Yellville and a sister, Janet SURBUR, San Antonio, Tex. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. RODGERS in 1979. Cremation was conducted under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.

The Mountain Echo, February 14, 1985 Issue: James MELTON. James Cyril MELTON, age 72, died at his home south of Yellville on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Mr. MELTON was born in Yellville on Oct. 6, 1913 to Arthur C. and Minnie CARSON MELTON. He was a retired truck driver for Pittsburg Motor Freight Company in Detroit, Mich. He had lived in Marion County for the past ten years. Survivors include his wife, Gladys AUNE MELTON of the home; two sons, Dan P. MELTON of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Kenneth J. MELTON of Taylor, Mich.; one sister, Mary Helen WATTS of Wheatland, Mo.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. in Burns Chapel with Rev. Lee Bowers officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Altus DOSHIER, Johnny BIRRER, Leo AVEY, Ron MOFFET, Jim MILLIGAN and Burl KING. Honorary pallbearers were Lucian MELTON, Harold DOSHIER, Gerald SMITH and Omer MELTON. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

The Mountain Echo, February 28, 1985 Issue: James DOWDEN. James T. DOWDEN, age 57, of Yellville died in Central Ozarks Medical Center on Monday, Feb. 25. Mr. DOWDEN was born in Hornbeck, La. on June 11, 1927 to William A. and Nora L. BEHAN DOWDEN. He had lived in Marion County for nine years, moving here from Porter, Tex. Mr. DOWDEN was a member of the New Testament Holiness Church in Yellville. Survivors include his wife, Geneva BYNOG DOWDEN of the home; his mother, Nora DOWDEN of Natchidoches, La.; six sons, Timothy W., David L., and John D. DOWDEN, all of Yellville, James T. DOWDEN of Harrison, Donald L. and Victor A. DOWDEN, both of Robeline, La.; two daughters, Alice Marie DOWDEN of Yellville and Linda D. ROLLINS of Ville Platte, La.; five brothers, two sisters and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. in Burns Chapel with Rev. Charles Harris officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.
