The Mountain Echo, January 31, 1990 Issue: Death claims county centenarian. Services for Maude SIMS, 100, a retired teacher who had been active in community affairs, were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with the Rev. Luke Conway officiating. Eastern Star services were at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at the Burns Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. SIMS died Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Bull Shoals Community Hospital. She was born Dec. 8, 1889, at Cowan Barrens south of Yellville, daughter of Jonathan T. and Sarah A. THOMPSON DOSHIER. She married George T. "Tom" SIMS on June 30, 1909. Mr. and Mrs. SIMS lived in Oklahoma for 30 years, where they both taught school, before returning to Ralph in 1953. Mr. SIMS preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1977. Friends and relatives gathered to help her observe her 100th birthday last Dec. 9 at the Marion County Nursing Home. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, active until two years ago. She was a former member of the Marion County Library Board, the Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliary, Extension Homemakers Club, and the Women's Club. Mr. and Mrs. SIMS were both active for many years in both the Pleasant Ridge and Cowan cemetery associations. Survivors include a daughter, Reta Mae POTTS of Yellville; a son, Bryan SIMS of Racine, Wis., and a sister, Mrs. Pearl WILSON of Oklahoma City. She also is survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Altus DOSHIER, Bill DOSHIER, Clyde DOSHIER, Verl DOSHIER, Ron PHILLIPS and Albert DOSHIER. Burns Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

DAVIS, KLOSKEY Death Date Wednesday, February 7, 1990
A February 1990 Issue of some California newspaper (specific one is uncertain): James DAVIS. James L. DAVIS died Wednesday at Natividad Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 39. A native of Portland, Ore., Mr. DAVIS lived in Salinas for three years. Mr. DAVIS is survived by his parents, Marie and James DAVIS of Corning; two sisters, Louise KLOSKEY of Milwaukee, Wis. and Lisa DAVIS of Corning; two brothers, Robert DAVIS of Yakima, Wash. and Jackson DAVIS of Salem, Ore.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Healey Mortuary. Private cremation was held under the direction of the Healey Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Alcoholics Anonymous, 922 N. Sanborn Road. [James Lee DAVIS died February 7, 1990.]

Services for Mildred CLARK LOGAN, 74, of Yellville, were at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with The Rev. Luke Conway officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Logan, a member of the Yellville Methodist Church, died Friday, March 9, at the Baxter County Regional Hospital at Mountain Home. She was born May 25, 1915, at Merkel, Texas, daughter of Ben F. and Wilmuth C. COATS CLARK. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Henry A. LOGAN of Yellville; three daughters, Bennie D. KECKLER of Greenville, Texas, Mary LEE of Anchorage, Alaska, and Janet LOGAN of YELLVILLE; two sons, Bill LOGAN and Jere KECKLER of Greenville, Texas; and a sister Joyce CLARK NORRIS of Fort Worth. She also is survived by five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jere KECKLER, Ben KECKLER, Brian MOGLE, Carl Lee BLANKENSHIP Jr., John BLANKENSHIP, and Erwin GRIDER. Mrs. MEARS died Friday, March 9, at the Bull Shoals Community Hospital. She was born March 7, 1905, at Rush, daughter of Tom and Miriam LOVEL VICKERS. She had lived in Marion County all her life. Survivors include four daughters, Hazel SMITH of Yellville, Ellen MARKLE of Tieton, Wash., Nadine HOWARD of Wichita, Kans., and Sue WOOD of Wichita; and a sister, Lona JONES of Bentonville. She also is survived by 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and 11 step-grandchildren. Her husband, two sons, three sisters and four brothers preceded her in death. Pallbearers were Bill BAKER, Orville SHOCKEY, Wayne SHOCKEY, Junior KILLEBREW, John LONG, and Heath HOLT. Boone County Headlight, December 13, 1990 Issue: Howard RIPPETOE, 82, of Harrison. Howard RIPPETOE, aged 82, of Harrison died Saturday, Dec. 8 at Harrison Nursing Center. He was born March 15, 1908 at Putnam County, Tenn., a son of David Russell and Bettie RIPPETOE. He was a farmer and a railroad worker for Tennessee Central Railroad. He moved from Tennessee to Boone County 30 years ago. He is survived by two sons, Charles Ray RIPPETOE of Nashville, Tenn., and William Edward RIPPETOE of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., three daughters, Frances F. BATES of Indianapolis, Ind., Patricia BOLES of Cookesville, Tenn. And Brenda PHILLIPS of Monterey, Tenn.; a half-sister, Frances KNIGHT; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister and a grandson. Graveside services were Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Yellville with Rev. T. G. Morrow officiating. Burial was under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home. Friends were pallbearers.

He was a self-employed tile setter. Born Dec. 4, 1954 at Wichita, Kans., he was the son of Helen Jo (HUDSON) and Ned STUBBS. They survive him. Other survivors include his grandparents, Jewell and Dorothy HUDSON of Yellville and several aunts and uncles. Services were held Jan. 3 at Burns Funeral Home Chapel, with Stan Newton officiating. Pallbearers were James T. HUDSON, Mark RISLEY, Verl DOSHIER, Gerald RICHARDSON, Walter BOYD, Karldon HUDSON, Larry HUDSON and Donald HUDSON. Honorary pallbearers were Dane HUDSON and Tony HUDSON. He was a retired shipping clerk with Marion County Shirt Company. He was born Nov. 28, 1926, the son of Anna (ESLER) and Millard ADKINS. He married Ellen TOOLEY on Nov. 26, 1970. She survives him. Other survivors include two sons, David ADKINS of Yellville and Terry ADKINS of Sarasota, Fla., a sister, Myra KNOTTS of Bradenton, Fla., a brother, Millard ADKINS Jr. of Huntington Beach, W.V. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Feb. 17 at the New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Hudson officiating. Burial was private. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

He is survived by a sister, Velma JOHNSON of Yellville; a brother, Bert MITCHELL of Yellville; and several nieces and nephews. Other survivors are his father of Pekin, Ill., a son, James Richard ARNOLD Jr. of Flippin, three sisters, Margie of Treemount, Ill., Margo SMITH of Germany and Viola DOBBS of Oklahoma City, Okla., two brothers, Bernard ARNOLD Jr. of Peoria, Ill. and Mike ARNOLD of Danville, Ill. and three grandchildren. Born May 10, 1904, at Yellville, he was the son of Alice (BOWERS) and Frank BURROW. He married Myrtle MELTON on Sept. 10, 1935. She survives him. Other survivors are three daughters, Faye MARSHALL of Summit, Marie HODGE of Yellville and Syble TERRY of Midway, a son Carl BURROW of Yakima, Wash., three brothers, Floyd and Walter BURROW, both of Yellville, and Graden BURROW of Yakima, Wash., 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Services were held May 8 at the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church, with the Revs. Lee Bowers and Luke Conway officiating. Tim Cypert and Dr. Wayne James officiating. Mrs. OTT died Thursday (May 16, 1991) at Baxter County Regional Hospital. She was 79. A lifetime resident of Marion County, Mrs. OTT was born Nov. 18, 1911, at Cowan Barrens, a daughter of the late Ed and Lou WITSON JAMES. She and Virgil OTT Sr. were married Nov. 12, 1928. She is survived by her husband, Virgil OTT Sr. of the home; two sons, Virgil OTT Jr. of Bryant and Bobby Joe OTT of Yellville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter. Burial was at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Brook MAHAN, Rick MAHAN, Benji MAHAN, Tad OTT, Ty OTT and Tray OTT serving as pallbearers. On June 30, 1933, he was the son of Lou Seathers (FASON) and Joseph Franklin JOHNSON. He is survived by three daughters, Pamela WOOD of Harrison, Beverly ROMINES of Bedford, Texas, and Layunna NEUBAUER of Biloxi, Miss., and a son Marion J. JOHNSON of California. Graveside services were held June 27 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, with Sister Betty Lyerly officiating.
