The Mountain Echo, July 29, 1933 Issue: Grandville SMITH, 69, Harrison. Grandville SMITH, age 69, of Harrison, died January 1, 1994 at the North Arkansas Medical Center. Mr. SMITH was born April 7, 1924 in Jasper, Arkansas to Steve and Lilly (PEOPLES) SMITH. He was a disabled Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Jasper Masonic Lodge and the Jasper Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bessie (TREAT) SMITH of Harrison; two sons, Rick SMITH of Springfield, Missouri and Bryon Button SMITH of Harrison; one step son, Jim BOGLE of Harrison; four sisters, Ava KEEF of Jasper, Nettie PRICE and Lorene ROBINSON, both of Harrison and Imogene THORNSBERRY of Parsons, Kansas; one grandchild, Phillip SMITH; and two step grandchildren, Tammy and Shawn BOGLE. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Graveside services were held at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Graham Roberts officiating. Pallbearers were Kenny ANDREWS, Shawn BOGLE, Phillip SMITH, Donald SMITH, Jerry KEFF and Jerry SMITH. Holt Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Hester JONES, Lee HUMPHREY, Nemo TILLEY, Junior KILLEBREW, Louie KILLEBREW and Charles OTT. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly HUDSON, Bob JONES, Carl MCBEE and L. J. OTT. Mr. WAGONER was a lifelong resident of Marion County. He was born May 18, 1916, in Marion County to Luther G. and Katherine A. WAGONER. He was a retired construction worker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorene FREEMAN WAGONER, and one sister, Audra KILLEBREW YORK. He is survived by two daughters, Catherine Sue FOLEY of Essex, Ill., and Tina WAGONER of Little Rock; four sons, Leon WAGONER, Eldawan "Sug" WAGONER, Jimmy WAGONER and Mickey WAGONER, all of Flippin; two sisters, Mrs. Alsey OTT and Mrs. Althea HUDSON, both of Flippin; two brothers, Kirby WAGONER and L. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville. She was born June 16, 1936 in Marion County, a daughter of Charles Wesley and Alabama REYNOLDS TREAT. A former resident of Hattiesburg, Miss., she had resided in Boone County for 21 years. Survivors include a daughter, Kay VEITCH of Hattiesburg; a son, Kenny ANDREWS of Harrison; a sister, Bessie SMITH of Harrison; a brother, Jack TREAT of Auburn, Calif.; five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be Sunday, June 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Yellville. Mr. MELTON was born on June 28, 1907, at Yellville, and was a retired carpenter/farmer. He was a lifetime Marion County resident. He married Pauline RABY on Feb. 23, 1936. He was a past Patron of the Yellville Chapter 202 Eastern Star, a member of the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church, a 63-year member of the Masons, and a 43-year member of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Pauline of the home; two daughters, Bonnie MARTIN of Fritch, Texas and Georgia KILLEBREW of St. Joe; four sons, Frankie MELTON of Libby, Montana; G. C. MELTON of Yellville, James MELTON of Morris, Okla. And Junior MELTON of Lockesburg; a sister, Lois BURROW of Yellville; a brother, Doyne MELTON of Yellville; 22 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Minnie CALLAHAN MELTON; one daughter, Euna; four sisters, Erma, Verna, Syble and Ruth; two brothers, Ebb and J. B.; and two grandsons. He was a shipping clerk with the Merchant Marines. He was born June 14, 1916, at Crawfordsville, Ind., son of Ray P. and Carrie KELLER CLEMENTS. Formerly of Florida, he was a 13-year veteran of Marion County. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Yellville with the Rev. James Foster officiating. Visitation is Friday at Burns Funeral Home. Mr. CLEMENTS is survived by one son, Damon CLEMENTS of Keala Kekua, Hawaii; three sisters, Florence C. ROSS of Anderson, Ind., Lois DAVIS of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mabel DAHLAKE of Fishers, Ind.; one brother Harry CLEMENTS of Nobleville, Ind.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie CLEMENTS, on June 19, 1984.

Born June 27, 1919 at Yellville, Mr. BEARDEN was retired as a cotton gin manager. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Waddell officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Yellville. There will be no visitation. Pallbearers will be Larry BEARDEN, Fred WYNN, Gary HALL, Hollis HALL, Larry ROSE and Alan FORTENBERRY. Mr. BEARDEN was a Mason, Leachville Lodge 639, and a member of the American Legion. He spent most of his life in Baxter and Marion counties, but had also lived at Rogers and Leachville. He married Willene SWINK on August 12, 1941. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Lillie DENTON BEARDEN, one sister and two brothers. He is survived by one daughter, Sheila FORTENBERRY of Mountain Home; one son, James L. BEARDEN of Rogers, one sister, Flora GOSS of Lantana, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Mr. KASTNING was born July 8, 1912, at Bixey, Mo., to Ernest and Rosella HALE KASTNING. He married Bessie MEDLEY Sept. 3, 1949. He was a retired construction worker. He served as justice of the peace for three terms in Marion County and also served on the Marion County Equalization Board. He worked in the Rush zinc mines and was a veteran. He is survived by his wife, Bessie MEDLEY KASTNING, of Yellville; two sons, Cecil KASTNING and his wife Kat of Yellville, and Wayne KASTNING of Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. KASTNING was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, four brothers, two nieces, two nephews and one granddaughter. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. He is survived by a daughter, Lella Lee BOSWELL of Indian Shores, Fla.; a son, G. D. She received her teaching degree from Arkansas State Teachers College at Conway and was a member of the Gamma Eta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, past president of Alpha Iota chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (1962-1964), the Retired Teachers Association and the Church of Christ. Mrs. KEETER was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Carl, on May 3, 1987. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Opal MARCHANT of Flippin and Mrs. Ethel PACE of Yellville; a brother, Sherman B. OTT of Flippin; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included crafts and traveling. She is survived by her husband, James REED of Harrison; a daughter, Janet Lynn CASTELMAN of Stockton, Calif; a son, James D. REED of Camdenton, Mo.; a sister, Elsie RUDGER of Canada; two brothers, Joe HOLOWSKI and Clifford HOLOWSKI, both of Canada, and four grandchildren. A housewife, she moved to Marion County from Riverside, Calif., 20 years ago. Mrs. GUNDRY was born to and Redford and Gracie OLIVER BOND in East St. Louis, Ill., May 28, 1929. She was married to Richard GUNDRY. He survives her, as does a daughter and son-in law, Ginna and Al SLOCUM of Grand Terrace, Calif.; three sons, Richard R. GUNDRY of Moreno Valley, Calif., Todd L. GUNDRY of Yellville, and Mark R. and DeJonna GUNDRY of Flippin; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville. She was preceded in death by her parents Will and Mary Jane CALLAHAN KEETER; her husband Virgil YARBROUGH and a daughter, Juanita EPLING of Yellville. Mrs. YARBROUGH was born Jan. 7, 1899 at Freck. She was a 50-year member of the Yellville First Baptist Church and a member of Eastern Star.

Mr. STUBBS was born June 9, 1929, in Marion County to Luther M. and Addie MELTON STUBBS. A lifelong resident of Marion County, he had been a self-employed ceramic tile setter and was retired. He was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ. Mr. STUBBS was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Eddie STUBBS. He is survived by his wife, Helen STUBBS of Yellville, two brothers, Connie STUBBS and Fred STUBBS, both of Springfield, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was a retired shipping clerk for Champion Paper Co. in Texas. Formerly of Pasadena, Texas, he lived in Marion County for 31 years. He was a charter member and deacon of Victory Independent Baptist Church. He also drove the transportation bus for the School of New Hope in Yellville for many years. Born June 4, 1919, at Telephone, Texas, he was the son of John Edward and Margaret WALDRIP BELL. He and the former Blanche MILLER were married July 23, 1939. He is survived by his wife, at home; two daughters, Peggy VINES of Yellville and Karen RIVERA of Washington; two sons, Larry BELL of Summit and Rick BELL of Flippin; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy; one grandson, David; his parents, three sisters and five brothers. Services will be 10 a.m. today at Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville with the Rev. Kent Goodall officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Ted FOX, George PHOTIDE, Tommy LAYTON, Fred GOODALL and grandsons Michael VINES and Randy ROGERS. The Baxter Bulletin, a February 1996 Issue: May HOOVLER, 86, of Yellville. Yellville-May HOOVLER died Thursday (Feb. 8, 1996) at Marion County Nursing Home. She was 86. Mrs. HOOVLER was born Feb. 14, 1909, to Wilber Ira and Margaret MORRISON MCGAUGHEY in Pennsylvania. A housewife, she had lived in Marion County for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John, who died in 1993. Mrs. HOOVLER was a Baptist. She is survived by two sons, Blaine MCGAUGHEY and his wife Becky of Yellville and Ronald Lee MCGAUGHEY of Little Rock; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. David Butler officiating. Memorials may be made to the Marion County Nursing Home Activity Fund.

The Baxter Bulletin, April 20, 1996 Issue: Lindel Hue 'Lin' RICE service Monday. Summit-Lindel Hue 'Lin' RICE died at his home Friday (April 19, 1996). He was 47. Mr. RICE was born Jan. 30, 1949, in Caruthersville, Mo., to Harold and Lessie SMITH RICE. He married the former Glenda Mae PHILLIPS. Mr. RICE moved here from Missouri three years ago. Mr. RICE served the U. S. Army in Viet Nam. He was a warehouseman at Ranger Boats of Flippin. He is survived by his wife, at home; a daughter, Kimberly LINGO of Summit; three sons, Ricky RICE and Dustin RICE of Summit and Terry RICE of Pacific, Mo.; his mother Lessie BRANSON of Cedar Hills, Mo.; a sister, Helen IRELAND of Granite City, Ill.; and a granddaughter, Alisha RICE. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Cather Johnny KLEPAC, who raised him. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Burns Funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Ross Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doyle HALL, Greg HOPPER, Coy JACKSON, Dan STONE, Jason NEWTON and Bruce OTT. Honorary pallbearers will be James DECKER and Ricky RICE. Memorials may be made to the Dustin RICE Education Fund at the Mercantile Bank of Summit.

The Baxter Bulletin, April 20, 1996 Issue: Hazel C. SMITH visitation today. Hazel C. SMITH of Yellville died Friday (April 19, 1996) at Baxter County Regional Hospital. She was 60. Mrs. SMITH was born Feb. 4, 1936, in Rush to George M. and Mary L. VICKERS MEARS. She was a production button seamstress at Marion County Shirt Company and a lifetime resident of Marion County. She was a member of the Church on the Rock. She is survived by a daughter, Juanita SWETNAM of Gassville; a son, Donald SMITH of Yellville; two sisters, Ellen MARKLE of Ticton, Wis., and Sue WOOD of Wichita, Kan.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and a grandson. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Burns Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Burns Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Duffy officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery.
