Arkansas State Penitentiary Governor's Books

1918-1970 (several years missing)

Deb sent an e-mail to all the County Web Site coordinators for the state of AR and in her e-mail she says: "I'm making contact with all of you to let you know about some books that I have found, in my "rummaging" around, here at the Saline County Courthouse. I work for Judge Garrett and have kinda made it my job to preserve all of our old records and get them to our Saline County site. The books that I have found are the Arkansas State Penitentiary Governor's books, covering the years of 1918 - 1970s, with several years missing. Some of the books are very detailed with information, while a few are not, and every county in the state is included. No one can tell me why they were shoved to a corner in our courthouse attic, but I have them now, and have been working on indexing them, so that they can be posted. I now have the 1918 - 1920 book indexed and I am attaching it to this e-mail, in case you would like to post it to your site. Deb".

She forwarded a list for all of the AR counties. I have abstracted out the Marion Co listings and will post them here. Other AR county sites have probably posted their county records. As Deb does more books and sends me the information I'll add it.
