Texarkana Newspaper Oct 15 1905 Romantic Wedding Couple from the Sylverino Neighborhood Married Sunday Night Mr Emmett Lemley, one of the popular young men of the Sylverino neighborhood eight miles south of town, and Ms Mary Corzine, one of the most beautiful and accomplished belles of that district, were married last Sunday night. It was a runaway match and was attended with much romance and a considerable amount of excitement. The groom elect had previously secured a license, but after the run had been successfully made and all danger of pursuit by the lady's parents was past, the couple ran square up against another problem which for a time threatened trouble--they could not find any preacher of the community at home, all being away at church feeding their respective flock. Finally, however, a friend suggested to them that Justice of the Peace, JB Frost was at home and could tie just as binding a nuptial knot as anybody, so to him the _____ twain went with their trouble. Judge Frost received the couple cordially and in a very few minutes had made the twain one. It is learned that the parents of the bride had no objection to Mr Lemley, their opposition to the marriage seemed solely due to the youthful age of their daughter. ******** Contributed by Paula Clyburn My notes: Grandmother prepared for this event by tying up her clothes in a sheet and hiding them in the pasture. This is all she had when she married; she had to start all over, making clothes, quilts and all other household goods.
