PORTER posted by H. L. Porter, Jr. on Friday, June 1, 2001

I am searching for any descendants of Wesley and Fannie PORTER who lived in the Pine Ridge-Holly Grove area, of Monroe County, at the time of the 1920 census. Wesley was born 1865 in Mississippi and Fannie was born 1873 in Mississippi. There are 8 children living at home, 7 girls and 1 boy, and all of the children were born in Mississippi. The girls are Mattie born 1901, Jewell born 1904, Audrey born 1907, Carmel born 1913, Florence born 1919, and twins Zela and Zula born 1911. The only son, Ire was born 1903, and I believe his initials to be I. N. because he signed his name I. N. PORTER. At the time of the census the family is farming and the children are attending school. The 1930 census is yet to be released and without the married names of the girls any online research is difficult. I am confident that descendants of this family remain in the area, but communications appears to be non existant. I understand there is a Tri-County Genealogy Society consisting of Lee, Monroe, and Phillips Counties. Any help, or acknowledgement, will be appreciated. Thank You, H.L. Porter, Jr.

HATFIELD, WILSON posted by Jim Allred on Friday, July 6, 2001

My gggrandfather, John W. HATFIELD, was married to Mary Emily WILSON in Cache, Monroe County, Arkansas on June 25, 1855 by J.P. Bryan. However, that town no longer appears in Monroe County. Can anyone tell me where it was located and what happened to it? J.P. Bryan said on marriage license that John W. "was well known to him". John W. & Mary had two children: Martha Ella, Dec. 1856 and William Henry, Sep 1859. Supposedly John W. boards a river boat and disappears about 1859 and Mary appears next in the 1860 Census of Washington, Sevier County, AR. If anyone has knowledge of John W.'s parents/siblings, I would appreciate any help. Thanks
