I never knew him so here is all I could find about him: Name Calvin William HUMPHREY Born: Sept 4, 1912 Died: July 11, 1974 Married: June Illyene BECKERDITE - not sure of date but divorced around 1947 Children: Billy Keith HUMPHREY (1942 - ) Betty Fern HUMPHREY (1944 - ) Judy HUMPHREY (1946 - ) His social security card was issued in Illinois. I believe he may have originally been from Arkansas. According to his 1974 obituary he has the following siblings: 1. Judy who is married to Lloyd SMITH and resided in El Paso 2. Ethel who is married to Unknown SHARP and resided in Dupo (Can anyone tell me where Dupo is?) 3. Beulah who is married to Unknown AGNEW 4. George HUMPHREY who resided in McCrory, AR 5. OATES posted by Jacob L. Bateman III on Tuesday, July 1, 2003: I am looking for information on four brothers, Colonel John T. OATES buried at Confederate Rest Cemetery Helena Arkansas, his brother Captain Oliver Hilliard OATES is also said to be buried there. Wyatt C. Co. H 1st Ark, and William C. Co. C 2nd Ark., Now if John and Oliver with the Monroe County Homeguard, how did they end up in Phillips County. Oliver became Captain of Company A 25th Arkansas Infantry. Wyatt C. and William C. are the other two of these brothers. Wyatt was in Co. H 1st Ark Inf. and William in Co. C 2nd Ark Inf. were these units formed from Phillips County, if so where are these soldiers buried.

posted by Debbie Briscoe on Saturday, July 12, 2003: I am trying to locate my ggg grandfather, who is known only to us as Grand Pa. I have done comparisons of the last name as well as locations, and the families centered around St. Francis Co to TN to MS. I found a William J. Ables as born around 1835 and on the 1860 and 1870 census for Monroe Co., AR, and believe this could be him as his first child was named William Jeff and he died after his twins were born (1878) and I can't find this one after 1870. The wife's name in your marriage book doesn't match, but she could have been a first wife. Katie Mae is the name I have. I would greatly appreciate any help you may provide!
