My father, Vance Deville ETHRIDGE used to visit Brinkley, Arkansas in 1946 (and probably later as well) to visit his ETHRIDGE kin. I know his father was John Albert ETHRIDGE who died in WWI (born Dec 1892 in LA), the son of Martha (HALLEY) ETHRIDGE. Martha married Albert THURMAN in January of 1892. I have been unable to find a marriage for her to an ETHRIDGE. Does anyone have any information on a John Albert ETHRIDGE and to whom he might have been related? I was wondering if, perhaps, Albert THURMAN might have been an Albert Thurman Ethridge since my grandfather Ethridge was born just 11 months after Martha Halley's marriage to Albert Thurman. I have been told that my grandfather and father were related to Nancy Belle Ethridge who married Newton A. GOSS.

I am trying to find out where John F. GEAN, his wife Nancy, and his father Bird JEAN/GEAN are buried. They moved to Monroe County abt 1856, and were in the 1860 census. John and Bird must have died before the 1870 census, John's nephew Jesse Benton GEAN is buried at Rock Roe, which is where they lived. Thanks for any help!!

I am looking for information on Jack MOORE. I am reasearching my family tree and he was my great-great uncle. He was born probably in the 1860's or 1870's and died in the 1950's (I think). He lived for many years in Clarendon. I think he owned a general store/bait shop and also fished on the river. Any information you provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for the family of the late Margaret Jane SIMS (1916-2005) who was born in Brinkley AR and who was a friend of my mother's. My mom (Mavis HAYES) would like to know if Jane has any family surviving. According to my mother, Jane's parents were Rose FOLSOM (born about 1882 in Arkansas per 1920 census), and Billy SIMS (born Joseph about 1881 in Alabama per 1920 census). Jane had a brother named Horace SIMS (1905- 1992). Rose FOLSOM (Jane's mother)'s parents were both born in Tennessee acccording to the 1920 Monroe Co AR census. After searching for Tennessee-born individuals in the Monroe Co AR census, I found a Henry & Maggie FOLSOM, both born in Tennessee, married 26 years with 5 children, all living, and only 4 of their children listed at home. Then I found a post on the Monroe Co AR website about Maggie MANLEY & Henry FOLSOM (Donna Rogers). I emailed her directly but the address was not working. Does anyone know if Maggie MANLEY & Henry FOLSOM had a daughter named Rose? If so, then the MANLEYS would be related to Jane. Thank you for your attention. Candy Hayes Northport Long Island NY

William Samuel WHITLEY (1832- 1876) moved to Monroe Co, AR (Duncan Township) by 1860. He died in 1876, but family members lived on. The following article found in Goodspeed: Eastern Arkansas Biographies and Historical Memoirs (Monroe County) - 1891 In February, 1870, the county court appropriated $12,000 for the purpose of building a new court house, and appointed W. S. Whitley commisioner to let the contract and superintend its construction. In July following, another thousand dollars was appropriated. The house was finished in 1872 at a cost to the county of a little over $13,000. It is a plain two-story brick structure, with a hall and offices on the first floor and court room on the second, and stands in the center of the public square at Clarendon. On the southeast corner of this square stands the county jail, a common two-story wooden building. I would like to hear from others in this WHITLEY family line.
