Out of the 33 names on the 1870 Mortality schedule only one is listed in the Montgomery Country Cemetery book and that is Bartley Singleton with a headstone at Oak Hill Cemetery near Pencil Bluff. Frank Singleton a lad of four is probably buried there as well. The 32 others do not have headstones. Robert Dees is probably buried in the old Willhite Cemetery above Pine Ridge. 21% died from typhoid fever most dying between March and September. Typhoid fever is an infectious, often fatal, febrile disease, usually of the summer months, characterized by intestinal inflammation and ulceration, caused by the typhoid bacillus, which is usually introduced with food or drink.
27% who died within the past year were infants.
30% were children from 1 to 10.
57% of those who died within the past year were ten and under.
Only one teenage died and he was 17, died from meningitis.
