Edwards Cemetery is a well maintained cemetery with approximately 53 graves many marked with field stones in the Caney Creek area at the end of a gravel road 7.6 miles from Pine Ridge near the Polk - Montgomery County boundary, south side of the Ouachita River. T S 2 - R 27 W sec. 31. The area fenced is approximately 80' x 100' with a gateway, daffodils and a new outhouse. Listing complied March 1999 during a visit to the cemetery. Oldest marked grave 1908 and still active. 31 interments listed on Find A Grave

The Hugh Maddox family lived on a 137 acre farm near where Kates Creek forked with Caney Creek and raised three boys who attended Caney Creek Elementary, a two room building with approximately 50 to 80 students and two teachers. Children assisted with the spring planting and fall harvest on the farms so attended school in July and August and for about five months beginning in November through winter. Later attended high school at Oden, twelve miles east.
