Cemeteries relocated to Murphy Cemetery, Montgomery Co., AR

In the early 1950s due the Lake Ouaticha project cemeteries were relocated. Reference1951 Corps of Engineers report "Relocation Plan of Cemeteries" for the Blakely Mountain Reservoir Area, AR. Information posted here with permission from the COE, Vicksburg office.

Thompkins Cemetery was above the flood line but US HWY 270 would pass through it so the six graves were moved to Murphy Cemetery.

Murphy Cemetery, Montgomery Co. AR is located fourteen miles east of Mt. Ida on the Hwy 270, one mile west of the county boundary with Garland Co. south side of the road. This site origanlly had only a couple Murphy family graves so   the addtion of the relocated graves  removed from the lakebed of Lake Ouachita it is now a large cemetery with the majority if the graves without dates. No dates listed in the cemetery books.
