Mt Olive Cemetery
Montgomery County, Arkansas

Located 2.2 miles from Oden on the south side of the river opposite the Mt Olive Baptist Church. (Hog Jaw locale). The first grave here was in 1977 in this well maintained fenced cemetery with a large vacant area. No unmarked graves.   Transcribed from the actual cemetery March 4, 2000.  25 graves. Update 34 interments listed on Find A Grave as of Nov. 2010..

Ruby Fryar, 79, died Thursday, June 29, 1995 at St. Joseph's in Hot Springs. She was born July 26, 1915 in Washita, to Dr. John D. Steely and Tennie Scrimshire Steely. She was united in marriage on September 29, 1946 in Oden to Leonard Fryar. Dr. Steely practiced medicine in Arkansas from 1903 until his death in 1937. Argus Steely, b. 1899, died 26 March 1942 in a Japanese POW camp during WWII was a brother to Ruby. Tennie Scrimpshire Steely/Pierce married (1) Dr. John D. Steely on 17 April 1914 in Montgomery Co., AR. After Dr. Steely died in 1937, she married (2) Ed Pierce.

Ruth Sommerkorn Stitzer, 78, of Board Camp die on Sunday March 8, 2009. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery at Oden. she was the sister of Marin Sommerkorn of Pencil Bluff. She was born February 23, 1931 in East Orange, New Jersey to the late Ferdinand Sommerkorn and the late Marjorie Arnold Sommerkorn. She was united in marriage to William Stitzer.
