This article appeared in the ???? issue of The Nevada News. One of the most prosperous business places and cultured communities in Nevada County is Bodcaw. Surrounded by progressive citizens and fertile farms, the half dozen stores there have a prosperous trade the year round. Among the prominent merchants and businessmen of this enterprising little place might be mentioned Isham Mack, P. H. Herring, Jas. N. Russell, and Warmack and Sons. Drs. J. P. Atkinson, M. V. Russell, and J. H. Sutton do the medical practice for the community and each carries a full line of drugs. Bodcaw is closely associated with the outside world by mail and telephone facilities. Wires run in every direction for the little burg, and the service is spendid. Two daily mails, one supplied by rural free delivery # 2 out of Gardner and S. H. Warmack and Misses Lou Wells and Alice Caldwell. At present there are about 240 pupils enrolled in school, 70 of whom are boarding, having been attracted to the school by the splendid reputation it has made. The expenses necessary for a course in the school are comparatively small, the tuition is reasonable, and the board is cheap. The two buildings comprising the study halls are situated on a commanding hill to the northwest of town, and not only are they imposing from an outward appearance, but are comfortably furnished with modern fixtures and the necessary equipment of a first class school. Bodcaw is justly proud of Union High School, and is joined in this pride by every true citizen of the county. The school has been the means of bringing to the community a number of good citizens who came for the purpose of educating their children.
