Changes in Nevada County - 1907 This article was published in The Nevada News on Feb. 23, 1907 telling of some of the changes taking place over the county. J. L. Eagle has sold out at Redland and has moved to Hot Springs where he opened up a grocery store. T. L. Gulley has moved from Theo to Foreman where he will engage in farming, and Louis Pipkin has sold his orchard, home, and farm at Glenville. The post office at Lackland has been discontinued and all mail directed to that place is now stopped at Lyda. The post office at Glenville also was discontinued and mail for that point is sent to Davidson. A movement is on foot to reestablish the latter with T. J. Hay as postmaster. Roads are in pretty fair condition and travel in most any direction is an easy matter. ......Much cattle was lost in the recent overflow of the Little Missouri River. The heaviest losers were Tom DeWoody and Cicero Purifoy, near Lyda, who lost over 50 head. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hambrice at Davidson are the proud parents of a sweet little valentine which came to them on the 14th. Both the little miss and mother are doing well. This make eleven children, all of whom are living. The Lester Lumber Co. railroad has reached four miles into Nevada County headed for Hope. Trains are running a short distance from Hatley's Store and timber is bringing a fair price. CHANGES IN NEVADA COUNTY- 1907 41
