Mendenhall Cemetery Record Mendenhall was once a community just inside the Nevada County line from Ouachita County on Hwy. 278. Older residents remembered a cemetery along the highway. I searched the area and could not find any markers. I stopped at a nearby house (a Mendenhall descendant) and they confirmed that a baby was buried here, but the grave had to be moved when the highway was constructed. They had the monument behind their house lying under a bush. The name Mendenhall was not on the stone, but they assured me it was a Mendenhall. The old burial spot was about 1/2 mile west of the county line on the south side of the highway. There is no evidence of a cemetery at this time. The inscription on the stone reads: George T. 2-5-1896 - 10-12-1898
