From an article in The Nevada News dated June 8, 1939: MOSCOW CHURCH IS NEARLY 100 YEARS OLD The old Moscow Church has stood by the side of the road nearly a century as a lighthouse to guide men along the shores of life. Many a man has found Christ in this old sainted house of God. Many of our friends and loved ones are laid to rest in the nearby cemetery- "Asleep in Jesus-Blessed Sleep". The pastor of that old landmark spent the day in the cemetery taking names from the grave stones. Some of the stones are faded to such an extent that the names cannot be recognized. Some of the birth dates of the occupants date back more than 100 years back. One born in the year 1797, another in 1803, another 1822, etc. The question is: Will the good people in and around Prescott stand back and let this old church pass into history, carrying with it many beautiful memories, or will they come to the rescue. If for no other reason, the church should be kept on account of the cemetery connected with it. Unless something is done in the near future, old Moscow will be a thing of the past. The pastor of Moscow has agreed to conduct church services there without pay in order that the good people of Nevada County will keep the doors of old Moscow open. We plan a revival in the near future, also an old-fasioned Homecoming Day. But the building must be repaired first. The pastor is using this means of appealing to the people of Nevada County for financial help. If you are willing to help keep the old church active, we will appreciate your help. If you would like to give us something toward rebuilding the church, you may bring or mail your contribution to Rev. J. T. Davis, Jr., Rosston Rd, Prescott, Arkansas and the same will be appreciated very much. The names of the contributors will be placed in a book of memories and placed in the old church.
