Alexander Gray RIGGS, wife Jane, came to Nevada (Ouachita) County in 1853 from Montgomery County. They both died in 1860. Hugh Wood Riggs and wife Elizabeth MURDOCK, came here about the same time. They both died in 1859/60. Hugh was the father of Alexander G., William M. and Robert, all in the Carouse area in late 1850s. A.G.'s land was section 12, Twp 11S, Range 21W. Where would they all have been buried? I find no record of any of these burials. The surviving family moved to Texas. There was a Robert Riggs family that stayed and also a John Stevenson Riggs, oldest son of Alexander G. Thank you, sincerely, Chuck Bolton

I am against a brick wall on locating or connecting my grandparents, Both the Jackson and Dempsey families lived in Hempstead county at one time. Frank Henry Dempsey, married to Mary B. Fincher, father of Frank, possible John but this is not confirmed. Father of Mary B. Fincher, Amaziah I. Fincher. I desperately need to know for certain who Frank's father was, If you know please send me the information. William D. Kindrick married Ella Jackson. She was from Rome or Resaca Georgia, I do not know her parents names, if you have any information on this family please fill me in. The Dempsey family may have been in Ouachita county or Nevada county at one time, prior to 1900. Thank you, .Josephine Foster

My brother and I are looking for information about our great, great grandfather. We believe he lived in or near Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas around the time of the Civil War. The family story is that he enlisted at Centerville in 1862, served in the 20th iArkansas Infantry and was captured at the battle of Vicksburg. Our family records show his surname spelled three ways: RAGAN, REAGAN and REGAN. His given name was Joseph and we believe his middle initial was D., however we have also found a middle name of Solomon. He was married to a Polly Ann LEE. Their daughter, our great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Reagan, was born in Prescott around 1866 or 1867. I'm sorry but this is all the information we have at the moment. Where are birth/death/marriage records before the 1870s kept? I know the state of Arkansas has them after that year. Any help you can give us would be really appreciated. Thank you, Carolyn Holly Pace --- cpace@twinsburg.lib.oh.us
