I am trying to find info on my great grandparents Clarence & Ada Lura SMITH. They had several children one of which was my Dad, Claud. Claud had a twin, his name was Roy there was two other brothers Robert and Authur Matthew, two sisters Daisy and Lorene. I have seen in land records there is a C.E. Smith and a C.M.Smith could one of them be Clarence? I also found an entry in Mt. Moriah Cemetery for A. Smith could this be Ada? They both died before1937 but I don't know when. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Myra -- email hoch2@fayette.net

Looking for information concerning the death of John Wesley MOSS. According to a transcribed obituary from the Nevada News, 4/18/1929, he died on 4/10/1929 as a result of a locomotive collision while he was riding a freight train on the Missouri Pacific a few miles north of El Dorado, AR. The obit says in part "Funeral services were held at the Methodist church yesterday at 3:30 by Rev. Fred G. Roebuck." I am not sure which Methodist church they are talking about. At one time, beginning in 1925, the family lived in Prescott. John Wesley's parents are buried in the DeAnn Cemetery there. Probably the service was held at a Methodist church in Prescott, although John Wesley's mother, Lucy, was living in Arkadelphia at the time of his death. I requested a copy of his death certificate from the Arkansas Dept of Health, Division of Vital Records. They informed me that there is no record of the death in their files. They said they checked all possible names and spellings, and checked all possible places of death and several years before and after the date shown in my request. When I started this search I placed querries on both the Union County and Ouachita County lists requesting a lookup of a possible news account of the locomotive wreck. A gentleman checked the Camden newspaper for 4/10/29 and several days after and found nothing. As of yet, no one has checked the El Dorado papers for an account. Would the Missouri Pacific RR have any records of such an accident? How can I get in touch with them? I am having a hard time finding information on this. Robert E Paty, Arizona -- rep1935@qwest.net

Looking for information on the family of Alfred BARGER, who was a 67 year old widower at the time of the 1880 Nevada County, AR, census. Others listed in his household were his daughters, Sarah (44), Martha Grimes (41), Susan (32), and Mary Gooch (29); a son, James Barger (26); a daughter-in-law, Rebecca (25); and three grandchildren, Stanley Barger (1), Martha Kimes (20), and Viola Gooch (12). Alfred's exact date of death is unknown, but he apparently died between 1880 and 1890 in Nevada County, AR. Research indicates he may be related to Christina Barger STEELE Medlock, who died in Nevada County, AR, on November 16, 1877, and is buried in Moscow Cemetery. Any information on Alfred or Christina would be appreciated. Susan Reagan - rsreagan@home.com. Thank You!!

Looking for burial site of John Wesley MOSS, who was killed in a train accident a few miles north of El Dorado. He had apparently "hopped" a Missouri Pacific freight train. He was unemployed and looking for work. His destination was unknown. His obituary appeared in the Nevada News on April 18, 1929. It said in part "Funeral services were held at the Methodist church yesterday at 3:30 by Rev. Fred G. Roebuck. I have searched all of the online cemetery listings for Nevada County and cannot locate John Wesley Moss. His parents, James L. and Lucy R. Moss are interred in the DeAnn Cemetery. James & Lucy Moss are my maternal grandparents. John was my uncle. He died before I was born. Since the death was other than natural, would there be a coroner's report in the county where he died? Would a death certificate be in state or county vital records? Robert E Paty, Arizona -- rep1935@qwest.net
