Rocky Mound Cemetery

Rocky Mound Cemetery is located off Hwy. 278 east of Rosston.  It is
fenced and is occasionally used for burials. The ground here is covered
with a shale type, rocky soil. There was absolutely no grass in the
cemetery when I did this survey.  From the intersection of Hwy. 371 and
Hwy. 278 in Rosston, go toward Camden on Hwy. 278 almost three miles and
turn left on a dim road that appears to be a logging road. Go north 1/2
mile to the cemetery which is in a clearing on top of a hill.

A broken stone was found in the corner of the cemetery with a birth date
of 3-22-1814 and a death date of 7-29-1886.  The first name began with
MO and the last name ended with MS. This is probably an old stone for
Moses Hickman Williams that was replaced with a double monument. No
unmarked graves were found.
