I am looking for information about George Walter HILL and Effie BULLARD HILL that left Casa around 1913 or 1914. HARDIN

Anita  November 16, 2001
I have a 1900 census which shows Dr. Edmond Hardin, a physician having four children:  Bettie L., Vernittie A., Harrison Moses Baker, Anna S.  Apparently his wife was born in Tennessee and it may be that the Hardin's both came from Tennessee.  Dr. Edmond Hardin was born in 1832.  I'm not sure where.  He owned a home in Mc Cool Township, Perry County, Arkansas.  I have a report card for Harrison Moses Baker Hardin as an eighth grader in Ava, Arkansas who later became an Optomotrist.  All children except for Anna S. were born in Arkansas.  It shows Anna S. as being born in Illinois for some reason.  She was the youngest and was 8 yrs. old.  I'm trying to find out who Dr. Hardin was married to, where he came from, and who his parents were.  Any information would be appreciated.  Thank you.

MEEK/MEEKS, BAGWELL, FOWLER

Charlene June 13, 2001
William Francis Meek/Meeks b. Jan. 1872 place unknown, married Corrinda Catherine Bagwell date and place unknown.  They had 1 child  Rose Lee Meeks b. Sep 10, 1894 or 1895 place unknown.  William F. Meeks was shot by Jeff Hunter May 17, 1906 in a saloon in Casa, Perry Co., Ark.  It seems Mr. Hunter thought Will Meeks was visiting Mrs. Hunter when Mr. Hunter was not at home.

I have searched for any information on this William Meeks.  It seems there would have been information on the shooting somewhere, an obituary or something but I cannot locate any information anywhere.

I am doing this for a friend of mine who is about 90, Will Meeks was her uncle and she is trying to find out about her family and we thought if there was an obituary it may tell who his brothers, sisters and parents were and where they were.  We have really hit a brick wall on this  family.

Will Meeks mother was Mary "Molly" Ann Fowler (1) Meeks, he abandoned her and baby Will (2) Thomas,  he died  (3) Britten/Bratten his older step kids did not like her and she div. (4) Tucker (5) Ha.  I have only located Mary Ann on one census 1920, Maud, Pottawatawame Co. Okla. where she was raising her grandson William Emory Archer who was 15 at the time and both parents were dead.

Will Meeks had half sister and brother James Clark Thomas b. 1879 ARK. & Fannie Beatrice Thomas (1) Archer (2) Talley b. 1882.  I think he also had a half sister Ethel but I don't know if her last name was Britten or Tucker.  He also had a step sister Levy or Livvie Bretten or Bratten who kept in touch with him.  Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated.

ROBINSON, WADE, HUBBARD, SPEARS, MOORE, ROBERTSON, LOGAN, MCCABE, BUFORD

James R. Rasco Mar 14 2001
I am try to locate information on my great grandfather, William ROBINSON. According to the 1900 census of Perry County Arkansas he was born somewhere in the State of Mississippi in October of 1869. He married Martha "Mattie" Elizabeth SPEARS in Perry County Arkansas October 11, 1891 as recorded in the Perry County marriage records, volume "B" page 149. In the 1900 census of Perry County, ED # 166, sheet 2, Rankin Township, the household of William ROBINSON is listed as follows:

Will ROBINSON   Head    W.M. age 30 born in Miss.
Mattie ROBINSON  Wife   W.F. age 24 born in Tx.
Ruthie ROBINSON Dau.    W.F. age  8 born in Ark.
Lelia ROBINSON  Dau.    W.F. age  4 born in Ark.
Josa SPEARS     S.I.L.  W.F. age 13 born in Ark.

There may have been at least three other infants that died.

Sometimes between 1900 and 1910 William ROBINSON disappears from the picture. Mattie took another husband named John William BUFORD about 1910-1912 and they had at least one child named Johnnie BUFORD who was born near Bigelow, Arkansas. John William BUFORD died shortly there after and is buried at Bigelow. Mattie then married Jasper McCABE.

No one seem to know exactly what happened to William ROBINSON. Did he die? Was he and Mattie divorced? One of the daughter of Mattie's by her third husband, Jasper McCABE, told me that her mother told her that William ROBINSON has ran away with one of her younger half sisters and they were never seen of heard from again. I am assuming that the younger half sister was the Josa SPEARS that was in Will ROBINSON's household in 1900. The 1900 census also states that both of Will ROBINSON's parents were born in Mississippi.

I am pretty sure that my William ROBINSON was a son of a Sarah Jane (unknown) who is said to have married a James Maloy ROBINSON somewhere in Mississippi about 1850-51. James Maloy ROBINSON is said to have been born October 16, 1823. I do not know if James Maloy ROBINSON came to Arkansas with his family or if he had died in Mississippi and Sarah Jane ROBINSON brought her children to Arkansas. It is also said that Sarah Jane ROBINSON remarried to someone named MOORE. The children that I have for James Maloy and Sarh Jane ROBINSON are:

1. Martin ROBINSON born about 1852 in Mississippi. NFI.

2. Henry James ROBINSON born March 9, 1859 in Mississippi. Married Delilah Jane LOGAN in Harrison Co. Ark. about 1891.

3. Robert Lee ROBINSON born about 1858 in Mississippi. Married Julia WADE.

4. Mary ROBINSON born about 1859 in Mississippi. Married Robert MOORE.

5. Sanford Israel ROBINSON (changed his name to ROBERTSON) born about 1862 in Mississippi. Married Katie Wade.

6.Sarah Janie ROBINSON born about 1864-65. Married Hampton McCABE.

7. Amy Mildy ROBINSON born about 1865. Married 1st Edmond WADE. Married 2nd Will DEMPSEY.

8. Daniel Sidney ROBINSON born about 1868. Married Mary Katherine McCABE.

9. William ROBINSON (probably the William ROBINSON who is the subject of this posting).

10. Barbara Ellen ROBINSON born about 1868 in Mississippi. Married James Thomas HUBBARD. She died in 1937 in Perry County.

I believe that these ROBINSONS settled around Casa, Perry County Arkansas and some may be buried in the "Aunt Dilly Robinson" Cemetery. Some may have moved to Yell County. Records in Arkansas spell the sur-name in various ways - ROBINSON, ROBERTSON, ROBERSON, and ROBERTS.

I would like to make contact with anyone who may have additional information on this line of the ROBINSON family.

MEEKS

Charlene April 26, 2001
I am searching for any information on William Francis MEEKS who was shot in a saloon in Casa Ark. 1906.  I understand he was shot by a man who felt Will was trying to see his wife.  I do not know exact date of shooting or who shot him.  I am searching for an obituary for William Meeks because he was son of a lady I am trying to trace,

Mary "Molly" Ann Fowler (1) Meeks (2) Thomas (3) Britten or Bratten (4) Tucker  (5) Ha.  Robvert Meeks, first husband, abandoned Mary and little Will when he was a baby.  The 2nd husband, James Thomas, died in Searcy Co. Ark.
The 3rd husband had older children of a former marriage who did not like their young step mom and she divorced Mr. Britten.  Do not know what happened to Mr. Tucker.

I do not know how many children this woman had because many died before she did.  I know she had a daughter, Fannie Beatrice Thomas and a son, James Clark Thomas who lived to adulthood but Fannie died very young with T. B.  I think she had a daughter Ethel Mary or Mary Ethel but do not know the last name.  And of course I know she had William Francis Meeks.  I was hoping to
find an obituary which may name all the brothers and sisters of William Meeks.  Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated.
