Samuel Stout, born 27 Sept. 1839 Tennessee and died 15 Aug. 1894, Randolph County. He is buried in the Antioch Cemetery with his wife Amanda (Judkins) and many of they're children. Samuel and Amanda came to Randolph County in 1882, to live close to his brother William.
Samuel served as a cavalry man in I company, the 9th Alabama "Malones" Cavalry. He was recruited by Major Malone in Dekalb County Alabama during September 1862. His unit was stationed in Chattanooga Tn in 1862, then out of Serierville Tn until Dec 1863. They were a guerilla fighting unit used for raids or harassment tactics . He was honorably discharged in February of 1864.
