Benton Pratt, the 17 year old son of Doss Pratt who lives about 2 miles west of town died last Sunday morning after a weeks illness with typhoid fever. Mr. Pratt was a nice young man and his untimely death is a source of regret to his many friends. The remains were laid to rest at Shiloh, the funeral services being conducted by Rev J. A. Allison. (Benton died: September 18, 1910) Pocahontas Star Herald September 23, 1910. Submitted by Lee & Betty Tucker.
On Sunday morning, September 18, 1910, just as the glorious Sabbath day was dawning, the soul of Benton Pratt left its earthly abode and journeyed on to the Great White Throne of God. Benton was a kind good boy and loved by all who knew him. His death is a sad loss to his aged parents and brothers and sisters and he had a multitude of friends who are bitterly weeping today. A vacant seat in the home and at church and a new made grave in the lonely church yard cause our hearts to bleed and ache. It grieves us to give him up. He was such a true friend to all. But such is the will of the Great Creator who doeth all things well. We know that Benton’s soul has gone to a paradise of love and sweet unbroken peace. Death is only a transfer from one clime to another more beautiful and glorious. We shall all make this change very soon and with simple faith we should "Approach the grave like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasnt dreams". Beloved ones, cease repining and be of good cheer. Benton’s soul is in the brightest and happiest of all homes were dwell millions of other souls who have gone on before. Signed: A cousin Pocahontas Star Herald September 30, 1910.  Submitted by Lee & Betty Tucker.
It is with regret that we chronicle the death of Benton Pratt, a member of our beloved Socratic Literary Society. The beloved brother died where manhood’s morning had just begun. He had not passed on lifes’ highway, the point that makes a career, but being weary he lay down by the wayside and fell into a dream. While in love with life and rapture with the world, he passed to a Paradise that knows no end, as a member of that celestial society of bliss. This brave and tender young man was an oak in storm and love in sunshine. He loved all that was joyous and happy and his life gave evidence that he would, had he been permitted, have added greatly to the sum total of the worlds joy. "Sleep on, my youth, in sweet repose, no prince such painless slumber know; nor in the cleft of his fathers throne, knows half the joys of thy home." By order of Socratic Society September 30, 1910 Star Herald. Submitted by Lee & Betty Tucker.

Entered into life eternal after a brief illness at his home in Hoxie, Ark., on June 22nd, 1921.  Ulric Hatley Reynolds, age 29 years 11 months and 4 days.  There were many sad hearts when it became known that Ulric had closed his eyes forever upon the scenes of this life and had passed into the life beyond, but what a consolation to his loved ones to know that he said. "It will be alright." He was the son of Augustus M. Reynolds who died Feb. 12, 1907 and Mrs. Ellen Ebbers of this city.  He was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Schoonover, daughter of Mrs. Ella Schoonover, Dec. 20, 1912. Their married life was ideal.  Besides a wife and two small sons (Ulric II and Curtis Dennis), he leaves his mother, one brother,  Raymond, and other relatives to mourn the passing away of one so young just as life was growing brighter as the years passed on, so many cherished hopes are blasted, but an alwise Father has only placed another jewel near his throne to draw his children to him, for it is said, "Where our treasures are, there our heart is also." Ulric was honest in all his dealings with is fellow men, naturally kind and generous, he was in all things a worthy and upright citizen and a true Mason, and was worthy of the confidence reposed in him by his firends and neighbors.  All that could be done, by his family and friends to restore him to health, but he calmly fell asleep in Jesus. NOTE: I typed this directly from a newspaper article I am assuming came out of the Pocahontas Star Herald.  It continued with who attended the funeral but I do not have the rest.  I do know the funeral was held at his residence. Submitted by Ulric H. Reynolds' granddaughter, daughter of Curtis Dennis Reynolds. kwood@hcis.net

PFC JIM TOM ROBINSON DIES IN GERMANY AFTER 4 YEARS OF SERVICE....Thomas H. Robinson of Biggers, Route 1, received a message from Ulio, the Adjutant General, Tuesday morning, which reported that his son, Private First Class Jim Tom Robinson, 27, had died in Germany on April 1. No other information was given, except that a letter of confirmation would follow. Pfc Robinson, one of Randolph Counties most popular young men, and one who was loved and respected by everyone who knew him, was born at Reyno, August 7, 1916. His mother was the late Mollie Parker Jones Robinson. He spent his entire life at Reyno before entering military service on March 10, 1941. He received heavy artillery training at Ft. Bliss, Texas, and was sent to Alaska August 17, 1941, where he spent thirty-one months with the Coast Artillery (Anti-Aircraft). He returned to the States last fall and after a furlough with his homefolks, he returned to Ft. Bliss and remained in training there until he was sent to the European Theatre of Operations last November. He was in England and France before going to Germany where he had been serving as a driver of an ammuntion truck. Mr. Robinson's last letter from Jim Tom was dated March 10, and read as follows: "I am now stationed in Germany. This country is not so bad, but the towns are all torn up. I am living in what is left of a house, sleeping on an innerspring mattress, not bad. I am writing this letter by a small lamp with no globe, and the smoke is not too bad. Dad, I saw alot of pretty country in France. I think France is far ahead of England in lots of ways - better roads and the country looks better. Dad, I can't help but feel sorry for some of the Germany people. They have no homes - no place to go; old people like you, and small children, but they have all brought it on themselves. Don't you worry about me, for that won't help any, and I am faring fine over here. Well, I must close and get some sleep. Hope everything is fine at home. Love, Jim T." Pfc Robinson is survived by his father; a half sister, Mrs. Harold Richardson, of Reyno; 2 half brothers, Alva L. Jones of Panama City, Florida, and John Jones of St. Louis, Missouri; and a large number of other near relatives. PSH Apr 19, 1945. Contributed by Deb Roy.
