The James W. Collier family

James W. Collier & Susannah Runions Kincade Collier

James W. Collier was born about 1817 in North Carolina. Not much is known about him before his marriage to Susannah Runions Kincade. Susannah was the widow of James Perry Kincade (see Kincade Family), who died between 1861-1862. She is the daughter of Thomas Runyan/Runions and Parthenia Grinder, of Lewis County, Tennessee.

James Collier had at least one son before his marriage to Susannah. He married Susannah on 27 Nov 1862 in Randolph County. In addition to James' son from a previous marriage, and Susannah's four children by James Perry Kincade, James and Susannah had two more children together. These children were Victoria L. Collier, born 18 June 1863, and Joseph E. Collier, born between 1867 & 1869. Many descendants of James and Susannah Collier still live in and around Randolph County.
