Pictured are the parents of Horace Bates, Williston Bates and Nancy Ann Tennessee Noblin Bates. Williston was born 31 Aug 1830 in Pennsylvania and died 2 July 1897 in Randolph County. He is buried with a Confederate Soldier tombstone in the Sutton Cemetery. Nancy was born about 1840 in Marshall County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Samuel and Celia (Pyland) Noblin. Nancy and Williston were married 20 March 1859 in Randolph. Nancy is buried next to her husband in Sutton Cemetery, but she has no tombstone.
