SURNAMES: Joseph REED, Sarah ESTES or YARBER, Jodie REED
QRYTEXT: Joseph Reed married Sarah Estes or Yarber in Pocahontas and had 10 children. My grandfather, Jodie Reed was born in 1887. Joseph Reed was born 1844 in Missouri and Sarah was born 1855. Their marriage would have been around 1870. The 1900 Census states they have had 10 children and 4 are living. However, Joseph and Sarah are shown to be living in Knoble AR, Clay Co. with 3 sons. I belive the child living, but not listed with them was a daughter that married and stayed behind in Pocahontas. I am very new to genealogy so any suggestions, or look-ups would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...Judy

NAME: Camellia Johnson
EMAIL: Johnc1@JPS.net
SURNAMES: LACERT/LACY/HORNE/WAGONER/MORROW/SHOFFIT
QRYTEXT: I'm looking for information on my great grandparents. Stanislaus Lacert and Susie Horne were married June 15, 1887. Their children: Pearl Lacert born June 21, 1888, Omer Lacert born March 8, 1890, Oscar Lacert born July 4, 1892, Oto Lacert born March 25, 1895 and Joseph Lacert born Sept 20, 1898. My great grandparents are buried in the Duty Cemetery, but have no head stones. Stanis died around the latter part of 1898 or early 1899. Susie died about 4 months later in 1899. The children were farmed out to various families. I found my grandfather Oscar in the 1900 cenus in Pochuntas living with William Harrison Haynes family and his name was listed as Oscar Lacy. Pearl was living with a William F. Bridges family under the name of Pearl Lacy. Omer was living with Anna E. Taylor under the name of Lacy. Joseph Lacert was living with Authur Vorhiss family. Oscar Lacert married Mary Shoffit March 3, 1910 and Pearl married Issac John Wagoner July 25, 1908. My grandfather thought his brothers had died as he lost track of them. Susie Horne Lacert had a sister named Nancy that married John F. Morrow December 25, 1877. I would like to know if obituraries are in existence for the years 1898 and 1899 and where I could view them. If anyone has information concerning any of these families, please contact me. Thank you.

QRYTEXT: if you're looking for a feature, such as a cemetery, that doesn't show up on most online map searches, try: http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html This website is VERY useful for looking up features like waterfalls, bridges, beaches, etc. that you can't find on ordinary maps or road atlases. if you just need a map of a town, check out: http://www.mapquest.com after the map comes up, you can zoom in or out by clicking on one of the buttons on the far left. They range from “nation” (wide view) down to “street” (narrow view). If you want to print it, click on “printable map” on the right side. That will give you a page with just the map on it, so you don’t have to print all the other commercial stuff around it. saves some ink. A very good search engine is: http://www.divanet.com/search/ this is actually a collection of search engines, and I’ve found it to be very useful. You can use it to find locations on maps, find people, businesses, etc.

SURNAMES: MATTHEWS LEATHERS
QRYTEXT: My ancestor Perry Harvey MATTHEWS came to Ripley Co., MO about 1856. In May or June of 1857 he died. In a bio written by his son it is said; "died 14 miles west of Doniphen on Forchee DeMau Creek; near the town of Warm Springs; on a line between Missouri and Arkansas about May or June 1857". His son, my ggrandfather was only three when his father died and I wondered if the detailed description might mean that he was buried with a marker that he later returned to see. I believe that Perry had married a second wife in 1856 by the name of Lydia LEATHERS in Dickson Co., TN. I did see several LEATHERS listed in the area and a few MATTHEWS. (The MATTHEWS were not to particular how they spelled their name. It has been found MATHIS, MATHEW, MATHUS, MATTHEWS, MATHEWS, MATTHEWES, and about any other way you could imagin.) I have been chasing this man for 25 years and any help would be greatly appreciated. I have later info that I am willing to share with anyone interested. Mary
