QRYTEXT:

I'm learning a lot just reading. Can anyone help me with a couple of questions. My dad, Durell Clark b1910 Randolph Co, son of Francis Marion and Susan Frances Pearce Clark, lived in Elevenpoint Community but attended school at WaterValley from about 1916-1922. Does anyone know the location of the Water Valley school or know of any class pictures? Also Mary Ivy McDonald is buried at Vandergriff Cemetery. Location? I've heard it might be the same as the Old McIlroy Cemetery. I'll be in Randolph Co in February and am trying to nail down some locations. I've enjoyed all of the "Hawkins" info. My family married into the Hawkins and Tyler families frequently. Happy new year to all Karen

Notes for WILLIAM THOMAS MAYNARD: Found in the Poinsett County, Arkansas History and Families book - Jan 8, 2001 - page 457 WILL TOM MAYNARD Wild game, scarcely touched by man, and untouched by man's game laws, abounded in this area when a 12 year old boy rode horseback into what is now the vicinity of Lepanto with his father back in 1891. That memorable 60 mile horseback ride form Green County near Paragould and the plentifulness of the wild game is vividly recalled by Will Tom, now 76, living on George Carpenter's farm near Riverdale Floodway. "Wasn't anything for my father to shoot a bear, panther, wild turkeys, ducks, raccoons. If you were hungry for meat, you just went out and killed an animal. I never cared for fishing very much, but it was here. And when I got older, I hauled a many a buck-wagon of fish...catfish,drum,buffalo to Memphis for sale." As for the horseback ride, the wiry little man remembered that he and his father, Louis Maynard, rode a good whole day. "My father told me to get off the horse for a rest when he hit Marked Tree, and we stopped at his friend's house, Jeff Grayson, who now lives in Memphis and must be about 99. After we rested a spell, we struck out for Lepanto." He married Lily Huddleston. From Lepanto News Record 1955 Children of WILLIAM MAYNARD and LILLIE HUDDLESTON are: BURNISH OR BURNES3 MAYNARD8, d. Abt. 18348. ANDREW LOUIS MAYNARD, b. May 05, 1905, Lepanto, Poinsett County, Arkansas; d. December 1977, Fenton, Genesee County, Michigan. EMMA MAYNARD. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Married Ellen Cromwell Thornton, believed to have been in Independence (Baxter Co.) AR on July 27, 1879. His wife's family moved from Franklin County, VA to west central AR. during 1858. Ellen born there. After being "burned out," moved to Hickor Co, MO. Family bible records indicate they lived in Cord, Independence Co., AR. That believed to be wrong. Official Randolph Co. records list Ellen and the 7 children in 1910 directory, but not him. States they came from MO during 1893, have an 80 acre hill farm with 15 acres in use and were active Methodists. It correctly lists the children starting with Marcus D., my grandfather, born during August 1880 thru the youngest, Minnie who was born during 1896 in Randolph Co. Their farm was in Roanoke Township. Marcus D. Anderson married Mary Susan White on Jan 18, 1906 (found marriaage license record) and had two children, Edna Betty (Grissom) and my father, Truman E. Anderson. Mary Susan died March 26, 1914 and is buried in Brady Cemetery. Marcus had 5 more wives before his death during 1957. Have fairly good records for most, but can find nothing official that John W. Anderson ever existed. Would appreciate any help.
