From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.


Cecil E. Hopper, 96 years of age, was born in Harwood, Missouri on September 3, 1889 to James and Della Hopper. He was married in 1916 to Floss (Eckerrode) Hopper, who preceded him in death in 1973. They had no children. At the age of fourteen, Cecil left Harwood, Missouri and got a job with Wells Fargo Company, working in Neosho, Missouri, Statesbury and Ottowa, Kansas for a total of 28 years. He moved to Scott County about ten years ago, to the Y-City area, and was a U.S. Mail Carrier in Scott County for about two years. Mr. Hopper has been residing in Pinewood Nursing Home since 1975.
