The Scott County Bicentennial Committee Salutes:
Gene "Sodie" Davidson

Gene "Sodie" Davidson, son of Joe and Susan Ivey Davidson of Hon, Arkansas, was born February 19, 1896. He died Sept. 12, 1960 and is buried in Duncan Cemetery, Waldron. He graduated from the University of Arkansas and was named "Arkansas' Greatest Athlete" in 1919. He was named in Arkansas Hall of Fame; and his picture is the first on top row in the field house in the Razorback stadium in Fayetteville. He was very much interested in civic and political affairs of Scott County and was held in high esteem. He served eight years as County Clerk and six years as Scott County's Judge. For five years, he was president of the Bank of Waldron. He was also a stockman and owner of the 1500 acre S.D. Ranch (polled herefords.) He did much to upgrade the cattle industry in Scott County. A sincere salute to: Gene Davidson. Happy Birthday Scott County! Happy birthday U.S.A.
