Scott County Arkansas Biographies

From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.

MATTIE (BRINKLEY) LUNSFORD

Mattie (Brinkley) Lunsford, wife of the late J.H. Lunsford was born in Scott County - Blue Ball, Arkansas, is 81 years of age and was born to Eli and Mattie (Watson) Brinkley on December 2, 1899. She attended Union Hill Grade School, and has lived in Scott County all her life. She has been a resident of Pinewood Nursing Home the past 3 months. Mrs. Lunsford has 8 children - Edity Garner of Little Rock, Buck Lunsford of Yuba City, California, Willie Lunsford of Waldron, Lois Sykes of Yuba City, California, Wayne Lunsford of Mena, Arkansas, Ina Faye Johnson of Yuba City, California, Buel Lunsford of Waldron and Wilma Wagner of Oregon. Mrs. Lunsford is a Freewill Baptist and she was a housewife. Mrs. Lunsford has been in the nursing home 3 months but she stated that she was thankful that God had inspired people to buildnursing home to care for those unable to care for themselves. She praised the staff at the nursing home for their services.
