From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.


On Christmas Day in 1900, Obie Vaughn was born to M.A. and Lou Vaughn in Brire (Briar?) Town, Oklahoma, making him 80 years of age. He has lived 75 of these years in Scott County, and 48 years in the same community. He is married to Ruby Vaughn and they have two children, Charlene Pack of Bellflower, CA and Jackie Lou Boyd of Tulsa, Okla. He attended schools at Mt. Moriah and Tate Town and his church affiliation is Freewill Baptist. He has been a cattle farmer and states - "We came through the Depression of the 30's."
