From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.

ROY E. HALE

Born March 11, 1900 to J.M. and Millie (Johnson) Hale, Roy E. Hale has been a resident of Haletown all 80 years of his life except for six months. Mr. Hale attended Mt. Moriah School and is now a member of the Mt. Moriah Nondenominational Church. He and his wife Verla have seven children - Ellis Hale, Audrey Tinder, Roy J. Hale, Leslie Hale and Mary Carolyn Hill all of Waldron, I.L. Hale of London, England and Pauline Carter of Belleville. Mr. Hale has worked as Forest Warden, carried the mail from 1916-1922, drove a school bus, worked for the AAA and ASC's 40 years, was a farmer, stockman and raised broiler hens and sold eggs. He served as school director in 1921, and was re-elected when the schools were consolidated and served until 1950.
