From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.

WILSON & TOSIA ASHFORD

Wilson Ashford, age 86, was born to Samuel and Sara Ashford on March 19, 1895. He was raised in Scott County, and has been in Pinewood Nursing Home since July 12, 1973. Tosia (Goddard) Ashford, age 80, was born April 25, 1900 to James and Allie Goddard. She was also raised in Scott County. She was admitted to Pinewood Nursing Home on March 28, 1978. Wilson and Tosia were married in 1918. They began their life together here in Waldron, but later moved to Cauthron where they lived eight years before moving back to Waldron. Wilson and Tosia have seven children, whose names all begin with the letter "K", a daughter, Kathryn Jones of Waldron, she is also a twin to Kenneth Ashford of Sanger, Calif. There are five other sons - Keith Ashford, Sacramento, Calif., Kermit Ashford, Five Point, Calif., Kenslow Ashford, Sanger, Calif., Kerwin Ashford, Raleigh, North Carolina and Kelly Ashford of Waldron. They both have led very active lives. Wilson worked on his farm at Cauthron. After the children were all married, Tosia worked outside the home as a cook at Camp Couch Dale Boys Camp in Hot Springs for three years, and she also worked for several years at the Waldron school Cafeteria. Wilson and Tosia are both members of the Methodist Church, and were quite active in supporting their church.
