There are more than 80 field stone marked graves throughout the cemetery. Some families such as the Taff’s and Smith’s have more than a dozen nearby. It is conceivable that many others are not marked at all. The following are locations of stones that are now totally unreadable. This is an incomplete list.
*Child stone-- all that’s left is: “Virginia - dau. of” located next to Yarbrough and Jackson plots. According to a previous census, this could be Virginia Coltharp, b. 9 May 1887 - d. 4 Sep 1888. This Virginia Coltharp could not be found anywhere else.
*There are 4 small “children” stones in line with the Dearmon family. Last stone appears to say Harrison G.? with dates: b. 14 Feb 1888 - d. 6 Apr 1888. On previous census, the name “Adar L. Dearmon” - 4 Apr 1887 to 20 May 1887 appears. This stone is probably no longer readable and could be one of these.
*There are 2 graves next to Read/Reed families that are enclosed in cement blocks marked only with funeral home markers - information long gone.
*Next to Jas. W. Smith is a very badly broken stone with possibly the name of Lena. H., Dau. of
Several other unreadable or field stones around Smith’s plots.
M.R. and T.A. Hullender share a tombstone. In between the footstones of MRH & TAH is one for LDH.
A broken stone was found for “Little Ira, son of (illegible) and S.S. (surname illegible) born 17 Mar 1885? and died 28 July 1886.
