B.E. Brasher being first duly sworn according to law on this day deposes and says:
That he first became acquainted with soldier Wiley C. Eppler some time before the beginning of the late war. That when he first became acquainted with said soldier he was to all appearances a sound able bodied man - and continued so up to the time he enlisted into Co. A of the 2nd Reg't. of Ark. Mt'd. Riflemen. That since the return of said soldier from the said service he has been continuously disabled from performing manual labor by reason of wound received in right side fracturing two ribs and also wounding the lung while in the aforesaid service. Affiant states that his knowledge of the above facts is obtained from long acquaintance with said soldier and hearing him speak of said disabilities and hearing him state that his said wounds were received while in said service which statements affiant believes to be true and that affiant has no interest direct or indirect in this claim.
