GRAVE OF LEWIS BERRY GARRETT

Descendants of L.B. Garrett, Anna Y. Heath, Bradley Heath, Larry Donn Heath, Juanita Lee Clark Wright. Anna and Juanita are daughters of Neva Lee Garrett Clark, daughter of L.B. Garrett and 1st wife Anna Louella Hunt Garrett. This grave is in the OLD HON ARK cemetery, we had a hard time finding it, and it was on the bank of the Poteau River, out of Waldron, Ark. I think this poem fits the occasion:

Dear Ancestor
Your tombstone stands among the rest: neglected and alone.
Your name and date are chisled out on polished, marbled stone.
It reached out to all who care it is too late to mourn,
You didn't know I exist, You died before I was born.
yet each of us are cells of you in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own.
Dear ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago,
Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew that someday I would find this spot, and come and visit you.
