An Explanation
That the friends of Mr. Wm. Lowrey may understand the situation and the reason he was not appointed road overseer of Denton township, I make this explanation. Mr. J.A. Singleterry the overseer appointed for this township last fall resigned. I asked him to recommend a man for appointment in his place and he recommended Mr. Lowrey. I made up my mind to appoint him and told Mr. Lowrey so. Afterwards, before I made the appointment Mr. Singleterry and two or three other citizens of this township came to me and assured me that Mr. B.L. Walker was a first class road man and that he would be more satisfactory to a majority of the people of the township than Mr. Lowrey. It was my purpose, as it always has been to do the best I could for the roads of that township, and for that reason I changed my mind and appointed Mr. Walker. I hope neither the people of the township or I will be disappointed in his desire or ability to make good roads in that township.Reward For Blind Tigers
The W.C.T.U. has money in the Bank of Waldron raised for the purpose, and offers a reward of $25.00 for the conviction of each person engaged in the sale of intoxicating liquor in Waldron, and $10.00 for each subsequent conviction of the same person.=====

The residence of Mr. M.M. Miller burned last Sunday night about 8:30 o'clock. The family were away from home but neighbors broke in the front rooms and saved most of the household goods, except in the kitchen. The fire started in the kitchen and is supposed to have caught from a defective flue. Mr. Miller has the sympathy of the entire community.Resignation of I.S. Simmons
